Chapter 4

Elena looked at Clara, who shook her head in dismay. "Do you know the reason for this behaviour?", Elena asked. But instead of actually responding to it, Clara tapped on her shoulder and sighed,"Good luck on your first night. I have to get going. "

Clara left the house in silence while Elena slowly crept upstairs. She wasn't scared, but neither was confident about this. She was concerned. Yes, concerned about him. Concerned about her husband.

The door creaked open, and Elena walked slowly into the room. She could hear the flow of water in the bathroom. She sighed and sat on the bed waiting for him. "Will he not have to change?", She suddenly thought. She opened the wardrobe and picked out some home wear clothes for him. She felt silly taking those.

Daniel stepped out of the shower, a towel wrapped around his waist when Elena went stiff.

On the other hand, Daniel's gaze pierced into her. "The dinner is ready. You can come down and eat", Elena spoke quietly. "I'm not eating", He replied blankly.

She spoke quickly," You can't possibly skip a meal-". "I said I'm not eating.", Daniel cut her through. Elena clutched her dress and stepped outside the room quietly. After eating dinner, she silence she crept back upstairs into the bedroom and saw Daniel already tucked in.

She lay at the other end of the bed when her phone buzzed with a call. It was her close friend, Celine Rosier. She took the call and spoke," Celine?".

"OH, I'm glad you finally picked up the call. I have been calling you several times!", she spoke.

"I think I left the phone in silent mode. Sorry", Elena said.

" Are you free to meet me tomorrow at the club?", she asked. "I'm free, but why?", Elena asked

"I have something to tell you. Don't be late. Apex Club at 9:00 pm.", after saying that, Celine hung up. Elena stared blankly at the screen and switched it off.

Little did she know that someone had been eavesdropping her call. And that was none other than Daniel.

Earlier at his company, his dad was furious about the marriage that had happened without his acknowledgement. He wasn't invited to the ceremony either. He started creating up conversations about how Elena would take a huge sum of money from his bank account.

Daniel, however, seemed very annoyed by his father's comments and immediately asked him to get out of his company. Even though Daniel's rage had consumed him, he had loved his parents dearly. His mother was the one who persuaded him to agree on this marriage.

And Sasha Noir, his close friend since high school, had gone crazy ever since she had heard the news of his marriage. She wouldn't stop following him and kept asking why he lied to her.

The next morning, as usual, Elena didn't find Daniel in the house. She crept downstairs and already saw Clara cleaning the floor. "You clean the house every dayy?", Elena asked as she walked past Clara towards the kitchen.

"I mean, that's what I come here for.", Clara replied. Elena sighed, and took the plate, glancing at the food prepared by Clara. "I don't know what's wrong with me.", Elena spoke quietly.

"I get what you feel", Clara began," It's a common desire for your husband. Or crush at the first stage."

Elena stared at Clara and said," I-i never said an-anything about d-desire". "It's in your eyes. If you want honest advice, prove to him that you're worthy - because trust me, he is a hard man to capture", Clara said

Elena spoke, almost in confusion," Okay, advice aside. How do you even know about all of this?".

Clara refused to speak about most of her life, which always made Elena think she was a very introverted person - in a good way.

Elena kept waiting for any of Daniel's messages, so she texted him that she'll be outside the house for half the night. Oh yes, Elena was 100% sure that Celine would have a story to spill to her.

Fortunately, Daniel did see the message. But he didn't reply a word. Elena wasn't a person who would change herself or adjust to people's desire, but his behavior made her stomach twist.

She wore a pair of comfortable clothes, which she was sure was not something that would blend with "Club vibes".

Before she stepped out of the house, wishing Clara a good night, she did wait for Daniel to return. But she figured out he'll be late and took a cab to the Club.
