Chapter 2 — The Girl Who Didn’t Break

👣 The corridor fell silent as he walked.

Every step echoed power.

Every step carried control.

No one dared cross his path.

At the end of the hallway—

A door.

Guarded.

Locked.

“She hasn’t moved,” one of the men said nervously.

That should have pleased him.

A captive who didn’t cause trouble was easier to manage.

Predictable.

Simple.

Controlled.

But something about her silence felt wrong.

Not weak.

Not defeated.

Intentional.

Almost like she was waiting.

Not for rescue.

Not for escape.

For him.

And that thought alone irritated him more than it should have.

Arjun didn’t respond.

He simply opened the door.

🚪 Click.

The room was dimly lit.

Cold.

Silent.

And there she was.

🖤 Sitting calmly.

Like she belonged there.

No panic.

No fear.

No desperation.

Just silence.

And that same unreadable expression.

For a moment—

Arjun just stood there.

Watching her.

Trying to understand.

But nothing made sense.

“You’re comfortable,” he finally said.

Aarohi looked up slowly.

Their eyes met again.

⚡ And just like that—

The air shifted.

💬 “Should I not be?” she asked softly.

No hesitation.

No fear.

Arjun stepped closer.

Slow.

Measured.

Dangerous.

“You were kidnapped.”

💬 “I noticed.”

A pause.

His jaw tightened slightly.

He reached out—

Gripped her chin.

Lifted her face.

“Then act like it.”

For a second—

Silence.

Then—

She smiled.

😏 Not sweet.

Not nervous.

Dangerous.

💬 “Why?” she whispered, leaning just slightly closer,

“does it bother you that I’m not scared?”

⚠️ That was new.

Arjun’s grip tightened.

Not enough to hurt—

But enough to warn.

“You should be.”

💬 “Of you?” she asked.

A beat.

Then softly—

💬 “I’m not.”

The room felt smaller somehow.

The silence between them thickened.

Not with fear—

But tension.

Sharp enough to cut through air.

Most people couldn’t survive five minutes alone with him without trembling.

Yet here she was.

Steady.

Composed.

Watching him like she was the one studying prey.

For the first time in a long while—

Arjun felt something unfamiliar crawl beneath his skin.

Not attraction.

Not yet.

Something more dangerous.

Curiosity.

And curiosity had always been a risk.

Something shifted.

Subtle.

But real.

Arjun let go.

Stepped back.

Studying her again.

More carefully this time.

Not like a victim.

Like a puzzle.

Or a threat.

“Who are you?” he asked.

A simple question.

But it carried weight.

Aarohi tilted her head slightly.

💬 “Does it matter?” she replied.

Another pause.

Then—

She leaned back, completely at ease.

💬 “You already think you know.”

⚠️ And that—

Was the problem.

Because for the first time—

Arjun Malhotra wasn’t sure.

And he didn’t like that.

Not one bit.

Arjun turned slightly, but didn’t leave.

Not yet.

His gaze lingered on her longer than it should have.

Longer than necessary.

There was something off.

Not in her actions.

Not in her words.

In her certainty.

She wasn’t guessing.

Wasn’t reacting.

She knew something.

And Arjun Malhotra hated one thing above everything else—

Not being in control.
