Chapter 5

Hiro sat frozen. Had he heard right? His son? He actually had a son? No — that wasn't possible.

He searched Velkan's eyes. The desperation in them was real.

"That's not — that's not possible. Those three months, I didn't even touch you." He shot to his feet, both palms slamming the desk.

"Yeah, I know. And you made the reason crystal clear."

"What? What are you talk—"

"But do you even remember how we got together in the first place?" Velkan asked.

Hiro dropped his gaze, the memory surfacing. He and Velkan had crossed paths a few times at university. During a graduation party at a classmate's mansion, someone had spiked both their drinks. By some cruel twist of fate, they'd stumbled into the same room.

The next morning, Hiro woke to find the small albino omega already dressed and sitting on the edge of the bed. Concerned, Hiro apologized and promised to take responsibility.

It's fine — it's not your fault. We were both drugged. Just pretend it didn't happen. That had been Velkan's answer.

I can't do that. Besides, when this gets out, you're the one who'll suffer. I know how unfair things are for omegas. Because one way or another, people would find out.

That doesn't worry me. I know how to handle my own problems. Velkan had gotten up to leave.

Hiro stopped him, catching his hand.

"Let's give it a shot. If it doesn't work, we walk away. Deal?"

"Why are you pushing this? I'm not asking you to be responsible. You don't even know me."

"Exactly" so let's get to know each other. Give me a chance.

Velkan had agreed. Two months later, it was over.

Hiro raised his head.

"That night... are you sure he's mine?" he asked.

"If I wasn't sure, do you think I'd come to you? This is my son's life — I wouldn't gamble with it. Do you think I want you anywhere near us?" Velkan's voice cut like glass.

After what had happened between them — after what Hiro had done — the last thing Velkan wanted was to be anywhere near him.

Hiro exhaled. "Fine. I want to see him. If he's my son, I'll step up and give him whatever he needs."

"I don't need you to step up for anything. You go, you give your pheromones, and I wire the money for your service." Velkan pushed the contract toward him again.

Hiro's expression hardened. He didn't like that arrangement. If he had a son, he damn well wanted to be part of his life.

"I don't need this contract. I don't need the money. He's my son and I'll help. But I have the right to be in his life. I've already missed four years — I won't miss any more," Hiro declared.

Velkan's hand twitched toward his bag — toward the gun inside it. The only reason he didn't pull it was because he needed the man alive.

"Fine. I'll concede for now. Let's go," he ordered.

Hiro called his assistant to cancel his meetings and hurried after Velkan. They left the office flanked by Velkan's bodyguards.

In the car, Hiro read through Luan's medical file. The report detailed the cause of the boy's condition. He looked up at Velkan.

"This could've been prevented if you'd told me about the pregnancy. It's the lack of my pheromones during his development that caused this," Hiro said, an accusation threading his voice.

"Don't try to guilt me. Plenty of children born to omegas grow up just fine without their alpha father around. I can't predict the future," Velkan replied calmly.

"Even so, I had a right to know. I've missed four years of his life, Velkan. Four years." His voice tightened. "If this hadn't happened, I never would've known about him."

"Shut up, Sasaki. I don't care about your complaints. If this hadn't happened, you'd be having kids with your wife, and that would be that."

"Wife? I'm not married, Velkan." Hiro's expression softened. "I still haven't gotten over my ex."

"How pathetic, Sasaki. Because I'm sure your ex couldn't care less about you by now," Velkan scoffed.

"Is that right?" Hiro grabbed the back of Velkan's neck and pulled him close. "You don't care anymore? Was there really so little between us?"

Velkan's brow furrowed at the alpha's nerve.

"Did I ever say I loved you? You're not worth that much, Sasaki," he answered flatly.

"You didn't have to say it. It was all over your eyes. And it still is."

"Don't flatter yourself."

Hiro smiled at the response and seized the opening to kiss him. It wasn't tender — it was rough, demanding. Velkan bit down immediately, and the moment Hiro pulled back, Velkan swung at him. Hiro caught his wrist and kissed him again, gripping the hair at the albino's nape. Velkan struggled, tried to bite again, but this time Hiro bit him first as he broke the kiss.

Hiro ran his tongue along his lower lip. "I like this fierce side of yours, kitten."

Velkan wrenched free and cracked a slap across his face, then turned away, arms crossed. Furious at the alpha's audacity — and yet somehow, he hadn't reached for the gun in his bag.

Hiro, for his part, smiled with quiet satisfaction. To him, it was clear: Velkan still had feelings, whether he'd admit it or not.

"Now that we have a son, I'm going to make you love me again, Vel," Hiro warned.

Velkan turned to face him. He took Hiro's hand and pressed it flat against his own chest.

"Did you forget? I'm a male omega. Not a woman." Velkan held the alpha's gaze without blinking.

Hiro blinked, thrown by the statement. His hand drifted upward to Velkan's face, thumb brushing his cheek.

"I know what you are." He smiled. "And I like it. You've only gotten sexier." He winked.

Velkan opened his mouth to retort, but the driver announced they'd arrived at the hospital. He batted Hiro's hand away and climbed out of the car.
