Prologue

“Marry me.”

He huffed as he said it, his eyes full of desperation. His voice came out rough, almost uneven, like the words had been pulled out of him against his will. He didn’t even realize he was holding a crying, messy expression—like everything inside him had already cracked long before the sentence left his lips.

The room felt too quiet after that.

“M-e?”

He tilted his head slightly, confusion and curiosity flickering in his eyes. The word didn’t come with fear or excitement—only disbelief, like he was trying to understand if he had heard it correctly or if it was some kind of mistake.

“Don’t act like you didn’t hear me.”

The desperation in his gaze shifted—slowly turning into frustration, almost anger. His breathing was uneven now, like he was trying to hold himself together while something inside him was breaking apart.

There was something strange in the air between them. Not comfort. Not familiarity. Just tension—thick, silent, and heavy enough to make it hard to breathe properly.

He stayed still.

Still trying to understand what was happening.

Wasn’t he just a guest here?

He remembered clearly—he wasn’t supposed to be part of anything personal, anything emotional, anything serious.

He was just someone who had entered this place temporarily. A visitor. Nothing more.

Then how did he end up standing in the middle of a marriage proposal like this?

His mind tried to find logic in it, tried to connect the pieces, but nothing made sense. The situation didn’t feel real, yet the voice, the eyes, the intensity—it was all too real to dismiss.

The silence stretched longer.

Neither of them moved.

It felt like even the air had stopped reacting, waiting for someone to fix what had just been said.

But there was no fixing it.

One sentence had already changed the shape of the room, the moment, and maybe something far bigger than either of them understood yet.

And still—

No one spoke

No one denied it.

No one explained it.
