Chapter 4: Eyes That Refused to Look Away

The luxurious hotel lobby descended into chaos within seconds.

Guests screamed while glasses shattered against the marble floor. Wealthy businessmen rushed toward exits, dragging their families behind them. Security guards pulled out weapons nervously as the armed men stormed deeper inside the building.

But in the middle of all the panic—

Kim Taehyung and Jeon Jungkook still stared at each other.

As if the rest of the world had disappeared.

Yoongi looked between them in disbelief.

“Seriously?” he muttered. “This is the moment you choose to flirt?”

Taehyung ignored him completely.

Across the room, Jungkook finally snapped out of his thoughts when one terrified guest crashed into him accidentally.

Jimin immediately grabbed Jungkook’s wrist.

“We need to move. Now.”

The armed men began shouting orders aggressively.

“Nobody leaves!”

One of them fired a warning shot into the ceiling.

The sound echoed violently through the hotel.

Yoongi immediately stepped closer to Taehyung.

“These guys aren’t normal thieves.”

Taehyung noticed it too.

Their movements were organized.

Professional.

One of the armed men approached the reception desk and slammed a photograph onto the counter.

“Where is Daniel Reeves?”

The receptionist trembled violently.

“I-I don’t know—”

The man grabbed him by the collar.

“Wrong answer.”

Taehyung’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Daniel Reeves.

The businessman Victor Kaine mentioned earlier.

So this was the delivery job.

Except now things had clearly gone wrong.

Yoongi quietly leaned closer.

“I officially hate this mission.”

Before Taehyung could respond, another gunshot suddenly echoed nearby.

A woman screamed loudly.

Panic spread even faster.

Jungkook instinctively stepped forward to help an elderly guest who had fallen near the staircase, but Jimin quickly stopped him.

“Jungkook, don’t.”

“He’ll get hurt.”

“And so will you if you act reckless.”

But Jungkook already moved away.

Jimin cursed softly before following him.

Taehyung watched everything carefully from across the lobby.

Then suddenly—

one armed man noticed Jungkook.

Recognition flashed across his face instantly.

“That’s Edward Jeon’s son.”

Several men immediately turned toward Jungkook.

Yoongi’s expression darkened.

“That’s bad.”

Very bad.

Because rich heirs were valuable targets.

One of the gunmen grabbed Jungkook roughly by the arm.

“You’re coming with us.”

Jungkook struggled immediately.

“Let go.”

Jimin stepped forward angrily.

“Take your hands off him.”

The man shoved Jimin back violently.

Jungkook’s expression hardened instantly.

“Don’t touch him!”

Taehyung moved before thinking.

One second he stood beside Yoongi.

The next second—

his fist slammed directly into the gunman’s face.

The entire lobby froze.

The armed man collapsed onto the floor unconscious.

For a brief moment, silence filled the room.

Then everything exploded.

“Kill him!”

Gunfire erupted instantly.

Guests screamed louder while running for cover.

Yoongi grabbed a fallen weapon from one of the guards and ducked behind a pillar.

“I knew tonight would become a disaster!”

Taehyung pulled Jungkook behind cover just as bullets struck the wall beside them.

Jungkook looked up at him, breathing heavily.

For the first time up close, he could see Taehyung clearly.

Sharp jawline.

Dark intense eyes.

Dangerous presence.

But strangely gentle hands.

Taehyung looked down at him briefly.

“You hurt?”

Jungkook shook his head slowly.

“No.”

Another gunshot echoed nearby.

Taehyung immediately glanced around carefully.

“Stay down.”

Before Jungkook could answer, Taehyung moved again.

Fast.

Brutal.

Fearless.

He fought through the lobby like someone completely unafraid of death itself.

Yoongi groaned while firing toward another attacker.

“Taehyung, you psychopath, slow down!”

Jimin stared wide-eyed from behind cover.

“Your friend is insane.”

Yoongi sighed dramatically.

“You have no idea.”

Another attacker rushed toward Jungkook suddenly.

Before Jungkook could react, Taehyung grabbed the man by the collar and slammed him hard against a table.

Wood shattered loudly.

The attacker collapsed unconscious immediately.

Taehyung turned toward Jungkook again.

“You okay?”

Jungkook nodded silently.

His heartbeat felt strangely loud.

Not because of the violence around them.

Because of Taehyung.

There was something terrifying about him.

And yet—

Jungkook didn’t feel afraid.

Jimin noticed the way Jungkook kept staring and immediately smirked despite the dangerous situation.

“Oh,” he whispered softly. “Interesting.”

Yoongi finally managed to disarm the last attacker before security guards rushed forward to take control of the situation.

Within minutes, silence slowly returned to the damaged lobby.

Broken glass covered the floor.

Guests whispered nervously among themselves.

Police sirens echoed outside.

Taehyung immediately looked toward Yoongi.

“We’re leaving.”

Yoongi pointed toward the shattered furniture around them.

“Yes. Before someone arrests us for destroying half the hotel.”

Taehyung turned slightly—

only to find Jungkook still watching him.

For a brief second, neither spoke.

Then Jungkook quietly asked,

“Who are you?”

Taehyung stared at him silently.

Most people looked away from him.

Jungkook didn’t.

That alone felt unusual.

Yoongi stepped closer with an amused expression.

“Trust me,” he said casually, “you probably don’t want the answer.”

Jimin crossed his arms.

“And who are you exactly?”

“Min Yoongi,” Yoongi answered smoothly. “Professional survivor.”

Jimin laughed unexpectedly.

Despite the chaos around them, Yoongi found himself staring for a second.

Park Jimin was beautiful.

Annoyingly beautiful.

Jimin noticed immediately.

“What?”

Yoongi blinked once before looking away.

“Nothing.”

Jimin smirked knowingly.

“Sure.”

Meanwhile, Jungkook still looked directly at Taehyung.

“You saved me.”

Taehyung’s voice remained calm.

“You were in danger.”

“That doesn’t explain why you helped.”

Taehyung didn’t answer immediately.

Honestly—

he didn’t fully understand it himself.

Then distant police sirens grew louder.

Yoongi immediately groaned.

“That’s our signal to disappear.”

Taehyung finally stepped backward.

Jungkook felt something strange at the sudden distance between them.

Almost disappointment.

Before leaving, Taehyung looked at him one last time.

Then quietly—

“Stay away from dangerous places.”

Jungkook almost smiled.

“You seem like one.”

For the first time that night, a genuine smirk appeared on Taehyung’s face.

Then he turned and disappeared into the rain beside Yoongi.

Jungkook continued staring at the hotel entrance long after they were gone.

Beside him, Jimin slowly smiled.

“Well,” he said softly, “this just became interesting.”
