NISHA MAVEN
OPERATION ROOM AT SAINT HOSPITAL.
IN the sterile silence of the operating theatre, the atmosphere sharp, focus and precision thundered.
Bright surgical lights illuminated the patient, while monitors beside the table displayed steady, rhythmic beeps of a heart being carefully supported by machines.
This was a REVISION CARDIAC SURGERY, a delicate operation to correct a faulty heart valve from a previous procedure.
"Scalpel," I said firmly. A scrub nurse immediately placed the instrument into my gloved hand without hesitation.
Every movement in this room is controlled, rehearsed, and precise.
After all mistakes aren't an option to people like us, as we stand in this room with a person on the operating table there is no room for mistakes as the end result is death or if they are lucky a slight condition they have to live their life with.
"Vitals are stable," the anesthesiologist announced from behind the drape, eyes fixed on the monitors. "Blood pressure steady". "Heart rate within normal range." "Good," I replied, eyes focused. "Let's proceed."
John and Mark, my two assistant surgeons leaned in, carefully assisting with access to the heart. Their hands worked in coordination, holding tools and maintaining visibility in the surgical field. "Retractor," I ordered.
The scrub nurse responded instantly, handing over the instrument. The chest cavity was carefully exposed, revealing the heart beneath.
The previous valve work was now visible, I frown in disgust at the sloppy work done. Of course the patient experience complications who wouldn't when their heart valve looks like it was operated on by a kindergarden.
whoever did this should go back to their Surgical trainers and ask for their money back as it looks like they didn't learn shit, matter of fact they should just get their Medical license revoked.
I HATE It when I see stuff like this, shitty work.
"We're dealing with a leaking prosthetic valve. Prepare for correction." "Understood," Mark replied, adjusting position.
"Suction ready."
"Proceeding with repair," I continued. Careful placement. No unnecessary movement.
Each of my command was met with immediate response. SIGH, I love the people in this room , they make my job life so easy.
I lament whole heartedly. They move fast, but never careless, every action has purpose.
The moment I order, they don't hesitate, don't question at the wrong time.
They acknowledge, execute and deliver. No wasted words, no confusion.
They listen the first time, not just hearing but understanding exactly what's needed. I don't to repeat myself with them.
I don't chase them down. They're already moving before my sentence is fully finished.
They stay sharp under pressure. When things get tense, they don't panic or freeze, they focus. Their hands stay steady, their decisions stay clear.
While others might falter, they lock in. TRULY PERFECTION AT ITS HIGHEST FORM. I wouldn't trade them for the world.
The scrub nurse passed instruments with precision
The assistant surgeons stabilized and assisted
The anesthesiologist continuously monitored the patient's life signs
The circulating nurse prepared additional equipment just outside the sterile field
"Clamp," I ordered.
"Clamp in place," came the response.
"Valve adjustment starting now. Keep the field clear."
The room remained tense but controlled. Every second mattered, yet there was no panic, only discipline and teamwork. The heart monitor continued its steady rhythm, a reminder of what's at stake.
After careful adjustments and verification, I finally spoke again.
"Check integrity."
A pause followed as the team confirmed the correction.
"Valve functioning properly," John said.
I stepped back slightly. "Good work. Begin closure."
The team moved in unison, transitioning from repair to restoration. Sutures were prepared, instruments exchanged, and the surgical field gradually returned to stability.
As the final steps were completed, I gave my final nod. "Operation successful. Let's close carefully."
In this room, every role had mattered. Every command had carried weight. And through precision, co-ordination, and calm focus, the patient had been given a renewed chance at life.
