I LIFE WITHOUT ANY LOVE
A Life Without Any Love
Rain tapped softly against the broken window as Arif sat alone in the corner of his small room. The world outside was full of people laughing, talking, and living happily, but for him, every day felt gray and empty.
Since childhood, Arif always felt invisible.
At school, nobody waited for him. At home, nobody asked if he was okay. He watched others receive love, care, and support while he stayed silent in the background like a shadow no one noticed.
As years passed, the loneliness inside him became heavier.
He stopped smiling.
He stopped dreaming.
Every night he would stare at the ceiling, wondering why life felt so hard for him. He thought maybe he was born to be alone. Slowly, sadness turned into depression, and depression turned into darkness that followed him everywhere.
People around him only saw a quiet boy.
But inside, Arif was fighting storms nobody could see.
One cold evening, while walking through empty streets under the rain, he saw a little child sitting alone near a shop. The child looked scared and hungry. Arif quietly bought some food and gave it to him.
The little boy smiled.
It was a small smile… but it was real.
For the first time in many years, Arif felt something warm inside his heart.
That night, he realized something important:
Even if the world had never given him love, he still had the power to give kindness to others.
Days slowly changed after that.
He started helping people quietly — feeding stray animals, helping old neighbors, listening to lonely people online. Nobody knew his pain, but because of his pain, he understood the sadness of others better than anyone.
The depression did not disappear instantly.
Some nights were still heavy.
Some memories still hurt.
But step by step, Arif learned that a broken heart can still become a gentle heart.
And one day, while watching the sunrise after a long sleepless night, he whispered to himself:
"Maybe my life was never without love… maybe I just needed to learn where to find it."
The sky slowly turned golden.
And for the first time in a long time…
Arif smiled.

Chapter 2 — The Boy Who Smiled Again
Months passed slowly.
Arif’s life was still quiet, but no longer completely empty. The small puppy he rescued became his only true friend. He named him Shadow because the puppy followed him everywhere like a little shadow that never left.
Every morning before school, Shadow waited near the door with excited eyes and a wagging tail. It was a small thing, but to Arif, it felt special.
For the first time in years…
Someone was happy to see him.
One afternoon, while returning home under the cloudy sky, Arif noticed a girl sitting alone at a bus stop. She looked upset, staring down silently while people walked past her.
Normally, Arif avoided talking to anyone.
But something about her sadness felt familiar.
He quietly sat on the other side of the bench. A few minutes passed in silence before he softly asked,
“Are you okay?”
The girl looked surprised. She gave a small fake smile and replied,
“Yeah… I’m fine.”
Arif recognized that smile immediately.
Because he used the same one every day.
“You don’t have to pretend,” he said gently.
For a moment, the girl’s eyes became watery. She looked away and whispered,
“Sometimes I feel like nobody understands me.”
Arif stayed silent.
Then he answered honestly,
“I know that feeling.”
Her name was Nira.
After that day, they started meeting sometimes after school. They were both quiet people, but somehow silence between them never felt awkward.
Nira loved drawing sunsets in her notebook.
Arif liked listening to rain at night.
They shared their pain slowly, piece by piece, like broken souls trying to trust again.
One evening, while sitting on the rooftop watching the city lights, Nira asked him,
“How do you keep surviving?”
Arif looked at the dark sky before answering.
“I don’t know… maybe because a small part of me still hopes life can change.”
Nira smiled softly.
“That’s more strength than most people have.”
For the first time in his life, Arif felt heard.
Days became brighter little by little. He laughed more often now. Even his eyes looked less tired.
But deep inside, the fear remained.
He was scared happiness would disappear again.
Because every good thing in his life had always left him before.
One rainy night, Arif opened his old notebook again. The notebook that once held only pain and loneliness.
He turned to a blank page and slowly wrote:
"Maybe healing doesn’t happen all at once."
"Maybe it happens in tiny moments."
"A conversation."
"A sunrise."
"A friend who understands your silence."
Outside the window, rain continued falling softly across the sleeping city.
But this time…
Arif did not feel completely alone anymore.
