Before Noah could say another word, David pulled out the already signed papers and placed them in front of him.
The Divorce papers...!!!
“And don’t dare tell the reason for divorcing me… because you can’t get pregnant and don’t want to become a stain on Greyson’s family name,” he said coldly before standing up from his seat and walking away.
When Noah tried to stand and stop David, his legs gave up beneath him. He fell to the floor, yet still crawled toward him, grabbing David’s leg with trembling hands. Tears streamed down his face, wetting the marble floor beneath him. His voice cracked, low and broken, but he still begged desperately.
“P-Please… d-don’t leave me. I can’t live without you…” Noah cried.
“Please…
Please…
Please…”
“I’m sorry, David… I’m really sorry. P-Please don’t leave me…”
Noah’s voice sounded more like desperate begging than words, his trembling body refusing to let go of the man walking away from him.
David shoved him aside so hard that Noah’s head slammed against the table, making the vase on top of it stumble before crashing onto the floor with a loud shatter.
Noah’s POV
Suddenly, David’s phone rang.
Ring! Ring! Ring!
He picked up the call, and instantly, the annoyance on his face disappeared. His expression softened, almost gentle, and his voice became unexpectedly sweet as he spoke to the person on the other end.
I watched him silently.
For the first time in my life…
for the first time in five years of marriage…
I saw David smile.
A real smile.
The kind of smile I had spent years trying to bring to his face.
The kind of smile I had desperately wished to receive from him, even once.
But in the end…
That smile was never meant for me.
Suddenly, I felt something warm trickling down my forehead. Blood slowly oozed from the wound on my head, staining the cold floor beneath me.
My vision began to blur.
My body slowly turned numb.
Even breathing started becoming difficult.
But none of it compared to the pain crushing my heart.
The last thing I saw…
was David’s back facing me as he walked away without hesitation.
Leaving me behind.
Abandoning me.
The very thing I had always feared…
had finally happened.
My eyes slowly began to close.
Then everything turned black.
...
...
...
Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through my head, forcing my eyes to slowly open again.
The strong smell of medicine filled the air.
The steady dripping sound of the IV echoed quietly through the silent room.
I found myself lying on a hospital bed, dressed in a patient’s gown. My body felt weak and heavy as I slowly looked around the room.
No one was there.
As always.
A bitter smile appeared on my lips.
Of course… why did I even expect anyone to stay?
Suddenly—!!!!
They came...
The moment I heard the sound of footsteps approaching, my heart started pounding so hard that it felt like it would jump out of my chest.
Not because of excitement.
Not because of happiness.
But because of fear.
Pure fear.
My fingers tightened around the hospital bedsheet as my breathing became uneven.
Every step coming closer to the room made my body tremble uncontrollably.
I didn’t know why…
but deep inside, I already knew—
Nothing good was about to happen.
