Not Journaling: Okashi
There I am, snoozing through my entire English class... again. Waiting for that déjà vu to kick in. It begins with my teacher walking up to my desk and slapping it twice with a ruler, me lifting my head with the dark circles hanging under my eyes like vines from a tree, then her screaming at me,
"Okashi! WAKE the hell up!",
then me returning with the
"But I'm not sleeping.",
and her saying
"You're not paying any attention either!",
after that, it's just me mocking her rehearsed lecture in my head, 'I swear all you kids do is come here to slack off all day and waste your teachers' time and energy, not to mention your parents' money!' blah blah blah blah blah blah. Then comes the savior of the hour lunch bell, yay. I get up with a long sigh of relief and put my stuff together before ducking out the back door. Not before hearing her bellow,
"GET YOUR REST AT HOME!".
Lady, whatever. Have you been to my house? Man shut the hell up. When it's not one issue it's the next with my mom and her poor excuse of a boyfriend. Then somehow it all comes back down to something I did or didn't do. 'As useless as a white crayon' she calls me. Walking down the corridors, I finally meet up with Inori and somewhere from afar I spot Mar walking down waving at us.
"Wow, you really look crap Kash. You been sleeping in your classes again?", he chuckles.
"You'd be right if I could get any sleep at all.", I tell him exhaustedly.
"Hmm... nosy night again? Anything I can do?"-
"Buy me food.", I sniffle with wavering eyes.
"Yeah, thought so. Let's go get you something to eat.", he laughs while taking me by the shoulder. "You coming Inori?",
Inori follow us closely behind, straight towards the cafeteria, edged in her tablet. Surely enough, Mar does get me all the food I can eat in a hour.
"Woah, slow down. At this rate, you'll swallow the entire table and maybe a few chairs.", he says jokingly, anchoring himself to his seat.
Inori can't help but chuckle a bit. While I give him a death stare with a mouth full of food.
"What? At least she thinks I'm funny.",
A few minutes into lunch and Mar decides to take off, doesn't say why. After lunch, getting through the rest of my classes was a bit easier and getting home was the easiest part yet it's what I dread the most each day. Coming home to a dirty yet unoccupied apartment, I walk straight to my room and stay there on my phone for the rest of the evening, texting my boyfriend. Dozed off for about half an hour before waking up to shouts echoing from the living room and my mom giving the 'white crayon speech'... again. Sigh, whatever.
