Chapter 4: First Revenge
The moon hung high in the night sky, casting a cold silver light over Greywind Town.
Kael Voss moved silently through the dark alleys like a ghost. His body no longer felt weak. Every step was light, every movement filled with newfound power. The shadow energy flowing through his veins made him feel alive for the first time in his miserable life.
He stopped outside a small courtyard belonging to the outer disciples of the Iron Claw Clan.
Tonight, those who had beaten him and left him to die would pay the price.
Kael raised his hand. Black shadows swirled around his fingers as he activated his newly awakened ability — Shadow Concealment. His entire body melted into the darkness, becoming nearly invisible.
He easily jumped over the wall and entered the courtyard.
Inside, four young men were drinking and laughing loudly — the same four who had almost killed him.
“...Haha, that cursed rat must be dead by now. Probably eaten by wild beasts,” one of them said while taking a big gulp of wine.
“Too bad. I wanted to break a few more bones before throwing him away,” another laughed.
Kael’s eyes turned ice-cold. The black lotus mark on his chest pulsed with killing intent.
He stepped out of the shadows behind the first disciple.
Before the boy could even turn around, a sharp shadow blade formed in Kael’s hand and sliced across his throat in one clean motion.
“Guh—!”
The disciple clutched his neck, blood spraying everywhere, and fell to the ground with wide, disbelieving eyes.
The other three jumped up in shock.
“Who’s there?!”
Kael didn’t answer. He moved like lightning. Shadows erupted from the ground and wrapped around the second disciple’s legs, freezing him in place.
Crack!
Kael punched straight through the boy’s chest with shadow-enhanced strength. Bones shattered. The disciple died instantly.
“Monster… it’s that cursed boy!” the third one screamed in terror.
He tried to run, but Kael was already behind him. A dark tendril shot out and pierced the boy’s back, lifting him into the air.
“You… you were supposed to be dead!” the last remaining disciple shouted, his face pale with fear. He desperately tried to gather his spirit energy to attack.
Kael tilted his head slightly, his voice low and emotionless:
“You should have killed me properly that day.”
With a casual wave of his hand, multiple shadow spikes erupted from the ground, impaling the final disciple.
Silence fell over the courtyard.
Kael stood among the four dead bodies, his hands covered in blood. For the first time, he felt real power. The kind of power that made others tremble.
He looked down at his bloodstained hands and whispered coldly:
“This… is just the beginning.”
He quickly searched the disciples’ rooms and took all the spirit coins, cultivation pills, and a basic cultivation manual he could find. Then, without any hesitation, he burned the entire courtyard using shadow flames.
As the flames rose into the night sky, Kael disappeared into the darkness.
He knew the Iron Claw Clan would investigate. He knew he couldn’t stay in Greywind Town anymore.
But he wasn’t running away in fear.
He was moving forward — toward the dangerous Abyssal Grave Ruins, where even stronger power awaited him.
As he ran toward the forest, a cold, ruthless smile appeared on Kael’s face.
The weak, humiliated boy was dead.
The Black Lotus Shadow Lord had just taken his first step.
