The next day felt… slightly normal.
At least on the surface. Everyone was gathering to sing the national song.
The flag started to rise and everyone was singing. Some weren't serious, some were talking quietly.
"Oi."
Toby dropped into his seat like something serious.
"I have been thinking about this lately."
No one responded.
Daisy opened her book.
"What is this time?"
"We should go somewhere again."
"No," Alex said immediately."
"You didn't even hear it but how could you turn me down?"
"I didn't need to."
"It was really fun, no?" he slightly turned back to Lily..
.
"It was fun." She replied.
"See?"
Alex paused slightly.
Erica noticed but didn't say anything.
"Where?" Lily asked.
"Festival." Toby shouted.
"Is there one?" some students heard from behind and asked.
"Should we discuss?"
"I have been thinking about what to wear to the festival."
"You are just going to meet your girlfriend." Another student replied.
"Of course, we have been together for a month, I want to surprise her." Another student replied.
Alex didn't respond.
But—
"...When?" He asked.
Toby froze.
"You're asking?"
"..Just asking."
Erica looked away quickly.
"It's crowded."
"It's not," Toby argued back immediately.
But she didn't refuse.
Later—
Class passed quickly. Some were playing football in their free time.
Alex sat on a bench near the court.
Quiet steps, coming from behind. It was Daisy.
"What are you doing here alone?"
"Nothing, just watching Toby…. Football."
"How was your weekend?"
"Good, and yours?"
"Good."
They both then went quiet…..
"What do you like to eat?" She asked.
"Avocadoes." He replied.
Suddenly, the ball came at her with full speed but he quickly reacted rised his right arm to block it."
"Ahh— "She screamed.
"Are you alright? I am sorry." One of the players said.
"But do you think she is okay?" Alex said while looking at him.
Daisy just calmed down for a moment.
"I am okay." with a slight pale face.
"Next time be careful." He said.
"Thank you.." The boy replied.
"You didn't seem okay." While looking at her.
"I am alright. But one more thing, how was your arm? You injured it?" She replied with a worried face.
He pretended to be okay. But Daisy was angry.
"Let me take you to the infirmary" She hurried while holding his hand.
From afar, someone, behind somewhere, saw it. And didn't say anything.
While Alex and Daisy on their way to infirmary, they stumbled upon Toby.
"Yo! What's up bro?" Coming out of somewhere with confusion.
"Hi," they both said and went straight into the infirmary.
"You should have just told me, why are you being so stubborn?" She said.
"I didn't have to." He said.
Daisy sighed.
After a while, coming back to the classroom. There was no bandage on his arm which was slightly covered with his jumper shirt.
He sat down quietly since it was a free napping time. Some were napping. Some were doing revisions.
Unknowingly, someone poked him from behind.
It was Toby.
"Kim, are you okay?"
"When did you start calling me that?" He replied.
"I was just worried about you, bro since out of nowhere you came back late."
"Nothing—... It was just some meeting with the teacher."
Erica observed quietly while pretending to write the book.
For a while…. From his table spiderman eraser dropped accidentally. It was Lily's seat next to his.
"Here is your eraser," He passed it to her.
And he was just about to go back to his seat—
"....You missed one," he said, pointing at Lily's note.
She blinked. "Oh.."
"Want my help?" He asked.
"Yea,"
Without knowing what was said, Alex leaned closer to write for her.
"He is close!!!!" talking inside her thoughts while blushing.
On the other side away—
Erica clicked her pen slightly harder than usual.
Toby leaned over.
"This is getting interesting." Looking at her notes without knowing what she thought.
"Shut up!" Suddenly.
Toby was shocked.
The sky was slightly orange.
Alex went back to his seat.
"So? The festival is coming up after this exam." He yawned.
No one answered immediately.
Then—
"I will go." Lily said.
"Spring festival?" Daisy asked.
Toby and Lily nodded.
A small pause.
Erica crossed her arms and said. "...If everyone is going then, I guess I have no choice."
"That answer should've been a long time ago." Toby said.
Everyone looked at Alex—
"I will think about it," Alex said.
"That's basically a yes." Toby grinned.
"It's not."
However this time—
He didn't say no. Everyone laughed in the class, it was chaotic and loud.
The bell rang after a while.
Some students were rushing out of the gate.
"Where are we going?"
"See you later, okay?"
"Should we go to an internet cafe?" replied "No, I haven't had any monthly allowance yet."
People were chattering.
Alex, while getting out of the school gate, a petal of cherry blossoms interrupted his view for a quick moment. He looked up and sighed.
"Spring is coming near, huh."
"Beep beep beep" A car's beep from his aunt in the car park.
Alex was just about to pass and wait for the traffic light.
Suddenly—
A child out of nowhere accidentally passed a zebra crossing on the road and the car was coming at faster speed. He quickly reacted and acted in time and the car was stopped at a sudden brake. It was just about to hit in one meter.
"Are you alright?" Alex asked while the child was crying.
Quick steps coming from behind. The mother of the child ran desperately and thanked Alex.
His aunt quickly got up and asked Alex if he was okay with a worried face.
They chatted and got into the car. While in the car, Alex suddenly something came to his mind.
"Has this accident happened before?" Questioned himself.
"Hehh, forget it."
As the car passed through the parking lot, a girl stepped out from the lamp post.
A slightly amber coloured hair. Quietly went to the zebra crossing, and slightly smiled.
"You showed the same worried face as before.. Hehehe."
