Taehyung has completed his first and second years of studies. However, he misrepresented his summer or spring academic results to his father. His father discovered this deception during Taehyung's summer vacation. Currently, Taehyung has finished his winter semester, and today, the results have been released.

The notification appeared at exactly 10:00 AM.

Winter Semester Results Released.

The moment Taehyung saw it, his heart dropped.

Around him, students immediately pulled out their phones. Excited voices filled the university hallway.

"Did you check yours?"

"I did better than last semester!"

"My parents are going to be so happy!"

Taehyung couldn't move.

His fingers hovered over the screen.

Then, slowly, he logged into the university portal.

For several seconds, the page loaded.

And loaded.

And loaded.

Finally, the results appeared.

Taehyung stared.

His chest tightened.

Not great.

Not terrible.

Just... below average.

Again.

He passed every subject.

He had officially completed his second year.

But the grades weren't the kind that would make his father proud.

A bitter laugh escaped him.

Two years.

Two years of struggling, studying until midnight, skipping meals to save money, freezing through winter because the heater barely worked.

And this was all he had to show for it.

Before he could think further, his phone vibrated.

Appa.

Taehyung immediately locked the screen.

No.

Not yet.

He wasn't ready.

The phone vibrated again.

And again.

Three missed calls.

Then a message appeared.

Appa: Results are out. Send them.

Taehyung slipped the phone into his pocket.

For the rest of the day, he wandered around campus pretending to be busy.

He attended a lecture but couldn't focus.

He sat in the library but read the same sentence ten times.

His thoughts kept returning to one thing.

Summer vacation.

The day his father learned the truth.

The day everything changed.

He still remembered the disappointment on Hana's face.

The hurt in his mother's eyes.

Not because of the grades.

Because of the lie.

After that day, his father stopped trusting his words.

Every score.

Every assignment.

Every promise.

Hyungwoo wanted proof for everything and now Taehyung was doing it again avoiding, delaying, and hiding.

By evening, the sky had turned dark.

The cold Seoul wind stung his face as he walked back toward the subway station.

His phone rang again.

Appa.

This time, he answered.

"Hello?"

"Why aren't you sending the results?"

Straight to the point.Taehyung swallowed.

"I'm outside."

"That doesn't answer my question."

Silence.

The sound of traffic filled the space between them.

Finally, Hyungwoo spoke again.

"Are they bad?"

Taehyung looked down at the pavement.

"...I passed."

"I didn't ask if you passed."

His father's voice hardened.

"Are they bad?"

Taehyung closed his eyes.

"Yes."

For several seconds, neither spoke. The silence felt heavier than shouting.

"How bad?"

"Below average."

Another silence.

A long one.

When Hyungwoo finally spoke, his voice sounded tired

"After all this time?"

The words hurt more than yelling ever could.

Taehyung gripped his phone tighter.

"I tried."

The moment the words left his mouth, he wished he could take them back.Because they sounded weak,Like an excuse. But they were true.He had tried, Every single day, Yet somehow, it was never enough.

On the other end of the line, Hyungwoo let out a slow breath.

"Send me the results when you get home."

Then the call ended.

No shouting. No threats. Nothing. And somehow, that felt worse.

Taehyung stood alone outside the subway station as people rushed past him.

The city lights blurred in front of his eyes.

For the first time since coming to Seoul, he wondered if passing was enough. If trying was enough. if he would ever become the son his father wanted him to be. Slowly, he started walking home. Back to the apartment
