Episode 1:

The streets of Seoul were crowded as Jung Ji-hoon hurried toward the tallest building in the business district. Today was the most important day of his life—his first day at Taejin Group.

He checked his watch for the third time in a minute.

"Don't be late, Ji-hoon. Not on your first day."

Clutching his coffee and a folder full of documents, he rushed across the street.

Crash!

Ji-hoon bumped into someone.

His coffee spilled all over the man's expensive black suit.

"Oh my God! I'm so sorry!" Ji-hoon immediately bowed.

The man slowly looked down at the stain on his suit before raising his cold gaze.

His sharp eyes made Ji-hoon uncomfortable.

"Sorry?" the man said coldly. "Do you think that's enough?"

Ji-hoon's eyebrows furrowed.

"It was an accident."

"Careless people always have excuses."

The man's tone irritated him instantly.

"Well, some people could learn basic manners."

The stranger stared at him for a moment before smirking.

Without another word, he turned around and walked away.

Ji-hoon scoffed.

"What a jerk."

He quickly forgot about the encounter and rushed to work.

An hour later, Ji-hoon sat nervously in the orientation room with the other new employees.

Everyone was excited.

Then the door opened.

The room instantly fell silent.

A tall man in a perfectly tailored black suit walked in.

Ji-hoon's eyes widened.

No way...

It was him.

The same man from the street.

The same arrogant stranger.

The manager smiled respectfully.

"Please welcome the CEO of Taejin Group, Mr. Kim Tae-jun."

Ji-hoon's heart nearly stopped.

CEO?

The man he had argued with was the CEO?

Across the room, Tae-jun's eyes landed on him.

For a brief second, their gazes met.

A faint smile appeared on Tae-jun's lips.

Ji-hoon suddenly felt like his career might end before it even started.

The orientation finally ended.

Ji-hoon was trying to focus on his new tasks when a message appeared on his phone.

CEO Office. Come immediately.

His stomach dropped.

"I'm dead."

Taking a deep breath, he headed toward the top floor.

The CEO's office was larger than his entire apartment.

Standing by the window was Kim Tae-jun.

Without turning around, he spoke.

"So you're the new employee."

Ji-hoon swallowed nervously.

"Yes, sir."

Tae-jun finally turned to face him.

"You're also the person who ruined my suit this morning."

Ji-hoon looked away.

"That wasn't exactly my plan."

To his surprise, Tae-jun chuckled softly.

The sound caught him off guard.

"You have quite a mouth for a new employee."

"And you have quite an attitude for a CEO."

The words slipped out before Ji-hoon could stop himself.

Silence filled the room.

Ji-hoon immediately regretted it.

But instead of getting angry, Tae-jun simply stared at him.

Then a small smile appeared on his face.

A smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.

Because behind those eyes, Ji-hoon noticed something strange.

Something dark.

Something lonely.

And for the first time, he wondered who Kim Tae-jun really was.
