Downstairs trouble

Manuel, Josh, and Mara, his wife, were cleaning up the basement in preparation for the children’s ministry program that was going to begin soon.

"These cots and camping gear, we should store them in the closets," Manny said.

"Mara, can you fold these blankets and put them in the closet near the door of the washroom?  Sure, Manny, but it seems full. Yeah, just throw out whatever you see that is worthless."

"Okay. Hey, watch out for that rat, honey, shouted Josh."

"Wow there are many rats here."

"I see Josh. I’m fine; don't worry about me; I can take care of myself."

"Mara, do you need help with that box? Is it too high for your reach"?

Mara ignored Josh, and all of a sudden down came the box with an old rusty circular knife blade. The blade came down at blazing speed, piercing through her shoulder and causing blood to gush out. Mara fell to her back. Manny shouted, Are you okay?! Oh, wow, that cut is pretty bad! Said Manny. Josh looked at Mara and carelessly asked if she was okay.

"Josh, can you go to the pastor's office and bring the first aid kit?"

"I am on it. Okay."

"Let's wash this cut and put some of this antibiotic. Now with this gauze, you should be good as new."

"Hey are you guys alright?" Asked many,

"Yeah, sure," said Josh, "Why?" He asked.

"Because I noticed that there is a cold feeling within your relationship," said Many.

"Well, wait!" Mara exclaimed. "Each time I want to help him, he brushes me off! When I try to talk to him, he gives me one- or two-word answers," said Mara.

"We are good, brother Manny! She is just overreacting," said Josh.

Josh, "Love is about a person giving of oneself to another. Christ sets this example for a true marriage. The scriptures tell us that Christ loved the church so much that he gave himself to it, and that husbands should follow that example. Now, giving of oneself deals with the internal man, which includes one's emotions. Husbands, they need to learn that whatever they are feeling, they need to share it with their wives. Women have a better grasp of the emotional part of men. If Mara knows what you are going through, she can prayerfully help you. The problem that we men have is that we try to fix and handle everything on our own.

The Bible teaches us that two people become one when we are married. We have to learn to release and share with each other what we are feeling," said Many.

"Josh, can I pray for you and Mara right now?"

"Hey Pastor, Blessings. We are just about to engage in a prayer session; care to join us?"

"Sure, brother, we are going to pray that God brings this couple together, brother Manny. "

After the prayer, Josh and Mara experienced a peace and a love for each other that was there when they first met, but it had been missing for a long time. They went home and decided to go on a date, leaving the nanny to watch over the kids. After the movie, they went to a nearby restaurant where they met a couple, Rick and Barb. After a long conversation, Mara found out that Barb was struggling with an irregular menstrual cycle. She had a constant flow of blood day in and day out.

Barb had gone to many doctors, but no one could find a cure for her. Mara invited Rick and Barb to the Sunday service, and they agreed to come.
