CHAPTER 4 - DILEMMA

The afternoon comes and Yukito is still asleep. Suddenly, his phone chimes, the sound wakes him up from his slumber, he rubs his eyes and scratches his head. His hair all messy, his clothes still the same from earlier.

"Ugh, what time is it..?"

Yukito checks his phone and sees a notification from his "mother",

"Don't forget to eat! And try to go outside, do some other activities! Staying cooped up in your room is not healthy."

"Are you joking me? This woman is so annoying! Why can't she just let me be! My goodness!!"

He turns off his phone and he suddenly remembers about the paper Taiyo gave him earlier. He hasn't checked the address and time for the event. As he opens the wrinkled paper, his jaw drops to the floor,

"The event is in Minato City?! That's so far away from here! I can't go that far, my introverted soul won't be able to handle this. Just talking to Taiyo for an hour felt like an eternity! It was so stressful and draining but at the same time pretty fun."

He shakes his head,

"Still though! I have never even gone to Tachikawa, let alone Minato City! I should just call this whole thing off."

Yukito thought about cancelling the plan to see Taiyo's band performance but a sudden thought overcame his mind. But.. It looked like Taiyo was really looking forward to Yukito's arrival.

"What the heck am I thinking, it's not my problem he has high expectations. I'm not gonna come, Minato City is too far."

Night finally arrives and while Yukito tries to keep himself busy, he can't seem to stop thinking about Taiyo's invitation. It filled his entire head, for some reason his heart feels heavy at the thought of cancelling.

"Why am I feeling like this? I don't care about people's reactions," He mumbles.

He's disconcerted by his own feelings. He scratches his hair aggressively, making it even messier than before. He's as helpless as Odysseus, drifting between Scylla and Charybdis. He's confused whether he should go to the show or not.

"Agh! You know what, I'll just tell him that I can't come tomorrow."

Obviously, that was a lie since Yukito is free everyday, he just doesn't want to step out of his comfort-zone. Yukito lies on his bed, thinking about the event,

"Or maybe, I should at least try and come just to understand further about my ability... I mean, that woman keeps pestering me about going outside too so maybe by going to Minato City, I can shut her up."

He gets up,

"Gah! What am I thinking?! Going to Minato City alone?! No way! I don't want to talk to strangers. The pressure and exhaustion will be too much for me."

But at the same time, for some reason, he feels like there's a need for him to go outside, to explore more about his ability. It's just that his fears are holding him back. He gruffs in annoyance and gets out of his room. Then goes downstairs, as he walks along the stairs, he unexpectedly stops to look at the pictures on the wall. He recollects all the memories about his family. He lets out a big sigh,

"Oh Dad... What am I supposed to do? I'm so confused right now..."

His annoyed and disoriented expression softened to an expression of sadness and nostalgia, he stares at his family picture for a while. After some time, he walks down to the last step of the staircase. His feet now coming in contact with a different colored-wood. He goes to the dining table and inhales his second cup of ramen.

After finishing his dinner, he goes upstairs and walks toward the room next to his. He stands in front of a dark brown oak door, the handle is broken but it can still be opened. The squeak of the door opening echoed, filling the whole room. No other noises can be heard except for the chirping of birds outside and the chime of furin hanging across the room. He can feel a little wind coming through the taped up broken window. The room is empty, only a bed, a broken chair, a study desk, and a black-colored plywood wardrobe remains. Just when Yukito was about to step inside, the hanging furin falls and shatters all over the floor. Yukito lets out a small gasp, the shatter caught him off guard. He did not dare to take another step, he closes the door and heads back to his room to rest.
