Scene: The Dark Room
The moment I opened my eyes, I found myself in a pitch-black room. The authorities wouldn't approve if I described what happened here today.
As the person in front of me removed my blindfold, I noticed my hands were chained. I looked at him—the Jester,
this bastard.
Jester's Entrance
The room darkened as he came into view for the first time.
Me: "Who are you?"
The dim torchlight flickered across his sharp features as he crouched to my level, his smirk unwavering.
Jester: Leaning in closer, his voice dripping with mocking amusement,
"Oh, such fire from a trapped little bird. Tell me, do all princesses curse like sailors, or is that your special charm?"
He twirled a dagger lazily between his fingers.
"Though I must say... shouting at a man holding a knife? Bold strategy."
Me: "Why didn't you kill me then? Guess you still need something."
I looked at him with a bored expression, anticipating this- everyone has a price, and so does he.
The dagger paused mid-spin as his laughter abruptly ceased. His eyes darkened, the playful glint replaced by something far colder.
Jester: Grabbing my wrist and pressing the blade flat against my pulse,
"Kill you? Tsk tsk. Where’s the fun in that? No, princess. I don’t need anything from you... but watching you squirm? Now that’s entertainment."
He suddenly yanked me forward by the collar.
"Though if you’re that eager to die, by all means.... keep provoking me."
I pressed the knife to my wrist, a drop of blood dripping.
Me: "Alright... you bet."
His grip on my wrist turned vice-like, wrenching the blade away with a snarl. Blood smeared across both our skins as he slammed the dagger into the wall above my head, splintering wood.
Jester: Voice raw with something between fury and panic,
"You stupid, reckless Listen very carefully. If you think I’ll let you cheat me out of my game, you're dumber than the court fools I gutted for laughing too loud."
He leaned in, teeth bared.
"Try that again, and I’ll make sure you feel every second of what comes next."
I kissed him hard, having always kept a small vial hidden in my cheek for situations like this. With a press of my teeth, it shattered, and I transferred the contents into his mouth. As royalty, we were fed this poison since childhood, making me immune.
He froze, muscles locking tight- then shoved me back with a derisive laugh, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.
Jester: Voice dangerously light,
"Oh-ho! Desperation looks delicious on you, princess."
He stalked closer, tilting my chin up with the bloody tip of the dagger.
"But kisses won’t soften me. If anything..."
He traced the blade down my throat. "...they just made this infinitely more fun. So. What’s your next move? Beg? Bite? Or do I get to play now?"
I chuckled.
Me: "hmm... Let's see, you have one minute."
His grin twisted into a gasp as he staggered back, clawing at his throat... then stopped.
Laughter bubbled up, dark and unhinged, as he flicked a droplet of the "poison" off his tongue.
Jester: Mocking applause, "Bravo!"
Me: "Untie my hands, and I'll give you the antidote."
He paused mid-throw, the blade glinting. A beat of silence- then he barked a laugh, sawing through my binds with one brutal slash.
Jester: Looming over me, eyes fever-bright,
"There. Now hand it over."
He grabbed my freed wrist, thumb pressing into my pulse point.
"And if this is another lie..."
He trailed the dagger down my ribs.
"...I’ll carve the truth out of you."
He leaned in, breath hot.
"Clock’s ticking, liar."
I poured the antidote into his mouth myself.
Me: "Let it mix with your saliva, then drink it."
As i saw him drinking it down my expression changed and i smirked while whispering against his ear-
"...Guess I bluffed you with real poison, darling."
His laugh cut off like a snapped wire. A tremor ran through his hands before he lunged, pinning me against the wall, dagger at my throat.
Jester: Voice shaking with something between rage and admiration,
"You bluffing, brilliant little monster-"
He pressed the blade just shy of breaking skin.
"Tell me why I shouldn’t slit your pretty throat right now for that stunt ...Or better yet- convince me."
Me: "So weak yet so cocky... Are we now? Why did you kidnap me?"
I asked with a mock expression.
As i pushed his hand away from me.
To my suprise he said
"You laughed at me during the banquet."
The confession was so absurd I nearly laughed again.
"That is why I am here?"
Jester: "You wounded my pride."
Me: "Your pride must be exceptionally fragile."
He stared at me.
Then, to my surprise, laughed harder than before.
The sound echoed through the chamber.
"Perhaps. try boredom."
He hacked blood onto the floor, grinning up at me.
"King’s court... full of simpering nobles... but you? You sparked. So I thought... ‘Why not play with fire?"
He coughed violently.
"...Turns out... fire bites back." He collapsed fully, whispering,
"...Worth it."
Scene: The Greenhouse
The next thing he knew, he was in my personal greenhouse, one hand tied with a long chain. Sunlight filtered through glass panes, dappleling his pale face as he jerked awake-chains rattling. His eyes darted from the orchids to my smirk, and he howled with laughter.
Jester: Yanking the chain,
"A greenhouse? Oh, princess didn't peg you for a gardener. Am I the thorn in your side now?"
He leaned in, voice dropping.
"Or ....are you keeping me potted for later?"
I slapped him.
His head snapped to the side- but he just laughed, bright and unhinged, before turning back with a grin.
Jester: Licking split lips,
"Mmm, spicy! Should’ve known you’d hit like a noble—all show, no sting."
He yanked the chain.
"But if we’re playing rough now ....do try harder. I live for the bruises."
