The shadow couldn’t touch her!

The Shadow That Couldn’t Touch Her

Aunt Maria’s question lingered in the room like a storm cloud.

“How did you escape?”

For a moment, nobody answered.

Then Adam finally spoke.

“We didn’t escape because of our courage.”

“We escaped because something happened that even today I can’t explain.”

The room grew silent.

Every eye turned toward him.

After the strange phone call ended, the group knew they couldn’t wait any longer.

Kuru was still unconscious somewhere.

And whatever was haunting the Emergency Exit was growing stronger.

So they made a desperate decision.

If the door wouldn’t open—

They would find another way.

The friends somehow managed to climb over one of the school’s damaged walls and enter from another side.

Fear followed them with every step.

The darkness felt alive.

And every sound echoed unnaturally through the building.

Yet they kept moving.

Then they saw it.

A shadow.

Standing near Kuru’s unconscious body.

Watching her.

Waiting.

Almost as if it was preparing to claim her.

The group froze !!

Nobody dared breathe.

Yet something felt strange.

The shadow wasn’t attacking Kuru.

It wasn’t even touching her.

Instead, it seemed trapped.

As though an invisible force stood between them.

Protecting her.

Resisting whatever the entity was trying to do.

“It looked like something was stopping it,” Adam whispered.

“Like it desperately wanted to reach Kuru, but simply couldn’t.”

The others nodded.

Even after fifteen years, they remembered that impossible sight.

The shadow circling.

Struggling.

Failing.

Then it happened.

The moment the shadow noticed them.

The dark figure suddenly turned.

Its shape twisted unnaturally.

And before anyone could react—

It vanished.

Gone.

As if it had never existed.

For several seconds, nobody moved.

Nobody spoke.

Their minds refused to accept what they had just witnessed.

Then slowly, reality returned.

Kuru was still unconscious.

But the atmosphere had changed.

The violent winds weakened.

The darkness began fading.

The sky outside grew brighter.

And with a loud metallic groan—

The Emergency Exit opened once again.

The nightmare was ending.

At least for that night.

The friends rushed to Kuru and carried her out of the school.

None of them looked back.

Not once.

Prerna lowered her gaze.

“The incident changed all of us.”

“Our families became worried. They thought a change of environment might help us recover.”

One by one, the friends were sent away.

Different cities.

Different countries.

Different lives.

Anything to help them forget.

And for a while, it seemed to work.

The nightmares became less frequent.

The memories faded.

The fear slowly disappeared.

Or so they thought.

Prerna let out a bitter smile.

“We convinced ourselves we’d finally moved on.”

“But this reunion proved otherwise.”

“The fear never left us.”

“It was only waiting.”

Aunt Maria listened carefully.

Then, to everyone’s surprise, she seemed relieved.

“That’s good.”

The group stared at her in confusion.

Good?

How could any of this be good?

Aunt Maria leaned forward.

“Because none of you repeated the words from that phone call.”

“If you had…”

She stopped.

Her expression darkened.

“The consequences would have been far worse.”

“Far more dangerous than anything you’ve experienced so far.”

A heavy silence filled the room.

Nobody understood what she meant.

But they could tell she wasn’t exaggerating.

Not this time.

Selena finally spoke.

“Aunt Maria… we’ve carried these questions for fifteen years.”

“We came here because we need answers.”

“Please tell us the truth.”

Aunt Maria looked at each of them carefully.

Then she sighed.

“There are many things about that school that you still don’t know.”

“The truth is much darker than you imagine.”

Kuru immediately asked the question that had haunted them for years.

“How did that student die?”

“The one whose death led to the school being closed?”

Selena nodded.

“And why was the Emergency Exit forbidden in the first place?”

“How could someone die simply by hiding there?”

For the first time, Aunt Maria looked genuinely uncomfortable.

Almost frightened.

Then she revealed something none of them expected.

“Your school still exists.”

The room froze.

“What?” Rohan whispered.

“But we were told it was demolished years ago.”

Aunt Maria slowly shook her head.

“No.”

“The building is still standing.”

“The demolition was never completed.”

“And the reason is the same reason that Emergency Exit remains forbidden even today.”

Her voice dropped to a whisper.

“Because something is still trapped there.”

“Something that refuses to leave.”

And with those words, the real story of the Emergency Exit was finally about to begin.
