Jungkook’s heart pounded in his chest as he tried to open the window, but it was jammed. The panic in the air grew thicker with each passing second. Taehyung stood frozen in place, her body trembling, her face pale, eyes wide with a mix of shock and fear.
“It’s okay… we’re going to get out of here,” Jungkook said softly, but even he wasn’t sure if he believed it. The panic was setting in.
But suddenly, Taehyung’s face crumpled. Her eyes welled up, and without warning, tears began to stream down her face. She collapsed to the floor, unable to hold herself together any longer.
Jungkook’s heart clenched at the sight. He had never seen her like this—so broken, so fragile. His instincts kicked in. Without a second thought, he dropped to his knees beside her.
“Noona… it’s okay,” he whispered, his voice shaky but full of concern. “I’m here. You’re safe now.”
Taehyung’s sobs wracked her body, as if the weight of everything she had just gone through was finally catching up with her. The assault. The fear. The helplessness. She had held it all in, pushed it down to survive, but now that she was alone with the reality of what had happened, it was all too much.
Jungkook didn’t know what to do. His heart ached, and every instinct screamed at him to comfort her. Slowly, he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into an embrace. He wasn’t sure if she would pull away, but to his relief, she didn’t. Instead, she buried her face in his chest, crying harder.
“I’m so sorry,” Jungkook whispered, holding her tighter. “I never should’ve… I never knew… I’m sorry.”
The words felt inadequate. Nothing could take away the pain she was feeling, the trauma she had just endured. But he wasn’t going to let her be alone in this. Not anymore.
After a long moment, Taehyung’s sobs started to quiet down, but her body was still shaking. She felt exposed, vulnerable, her clothes torn, her body aching from the ordeal. Jungkook noticed her condition, and his mind raced, wanting to do something—anything to make her feel safer.
“Noona… you need to change,” he said gently, pulling back just enough to look at her. “I’m going to give you my shirt. You need to feel… better, okay?”
Taehyung’s eyes met his, filled with raw emotion. She nodded weakly, but she didn’t speak. She didn’t have the strength to argue. She just needed something to hold on to.
Jungkook quickly pulled off his shirt and handed it to her, his face flushed with embarrassment but his heart in the right place.
“I’ll turn around. Just take your time,” he said softly, stepping back to give her space.
Taehyung took the shirt, her fingers shaking as she slowly slipped out of the torn fabric she had been wearing. Her body was marked by the assault, her bruises and cuts hidden beneath her clothes. She didn't say anything—she didn't have to. The silence between them was heavy with unspoken words, but the respect they showed each other in this moment said more than anything could.
As Taehyung changed into Jungkook's shirt, the silence was filled only by her quiet breathing. When she was done, she turned to face him again, her eyes red from crying but softer, more vulnerable than before.
“Thank you,” she whispered, her voice still trembling.
Jungkook nodded, swallowing hard, not trusting himself to speak without his voice cracking. He wanted to protect her, but he knew this wasn’t over. The man who had done this to her was still out there, and they weren’t safe yet.
“We’ll get you somewhere safe. I’ll make sure of it. No one’s going to hurt you again,” Jungkook said, his voice firm, though he knew the battle they faced wasn’t just physical.
He reached for the door again, but it was still locked. He needed to think. He couldn’t let her feel like this anymore. He needed to get them out.
“I’ll get us out of here, Noona. Just trust me,” he said, his hand now on her shoulder as he guided her toward the bed, where she could sit and regain some composure.
