Chapter 5 : Another ordinary morning

Chapter 5

Another Ordinary Morning

Soo-Min glanced at her wristwatch.

It was almost ten in the morning.

As usual, the bank was crowded.

Customers were talking, phones kept ringing, and the soft tapping of keyboards filled the office with constant activity.

Soo-Min sat at her desk, focused on her computer screen.

A small stack of files lay beside her.

It was only ten o'clock, and she had already finished nearly half of her work.

"Good morning, Soo-Min."

A familiar voice came from nearby.

Without looking up, she replied,

"Good morning."

Min-Jae walked over with a cup of coffee in his hand.

"You know?"

"No."

"I was about to say something."

"Then say it."

Min-Jae smiled.

"I think the award for the most beautiful employee in this bank should go to you."

Only then did Soo-Min look up from her screen.

"Don't you have any work to do?"

"I'm giving you a compliment."

"And I'm working."

"That's exactly the problem."

Soo-Min raised an eyebrow.

"Working is a problem?"

"No. The problem is that you keep ignoring me."

The two employees sitting nearby burst into laughter.

But Soo-Min completely ignored him.

"Have you finished your report?"

Min-Jae's smile immediately disappeared.

"No."

"Then go and finish it."

"You're so strict."

"And you talk too much."

Min-Jae placed a hand over his heart dramatically.

"You break my heart every single day."

"And yet you come back every single day."

"Because hope keeps me alive."

Soo-Min simply shook her head and returned to her work.

For her, this was an everyday routine.

Just then, a small commotion started near the bank entrance.

Some employees immediately sat up straight.

Others quickly turned their attention back to their computer screens.

Even Min-Jae suddenly stood properly.

Soo-Min looked at him in confusion.

"What happened now?"

Min-Jae lowered his voice.

"The Senior Manager is here."

Soo-Min nodded.

The glass door opened.

Jun-Ho walked inside.

Dressed in a black suit as always, he looked neat and professional.

His expression was calm.

No rush.

No nervousness.

No attempt to impress anyone.

Yet the atmosphere changed the moment he entered.

He walked past the reception desk.

One employee greeted him respectfully.

Jun-Ho gave a slight nod before continuing.

The respect everyone had for him was obvious.

Soo-Min glanced at him once before returning to her file.

For her, this was just another ordinary morning.

After all, he was her senior.

Jun-Ho stopped beside their desks.

"Is the report ready?"

he asked calmly.

Soo-Min immediately handed him the file.

"Yes, sir."

Jun-Ho looked through a few pages.

He remained silent for several seconds.

Then he closed the file.

"Good work."

Just two words.

But everyone in the bank knew that Jun-Ho rarely praised anyone.

Soo-Min nodded politely.

"Thank you, sir."

Jun-Ho walked away.

Min-Jae immediately turned toward Soo-Min.

"Wow."

"What?"

"'Good work.'"

"So?"

"The boss actually praised you."

Soo-Min shrugged.

"The report was good."

"You know he hardly compliments anyone."

"Then maybe everyone should work harder."

Min-Jae stared at her for a moment.

Then he laughed.

"You're seriously boring."

"And you're seriously avoiding your work."

"I'll do it."

"Liar."

Min-Jae was about to reply when two thick files were suddenly placed on his desk.

Both of them looked up.

Jun-Ho was standing there.

"Min-Jae."

"Y-Yes, sir?"

"I need these reports completed today."

Min-Jae's face instantly fell.

"Today?"

"Yes."

"...Alright, sir."

Jun-Ho nodded once and walked away.

Silence filled the room for a few seconds.

Soo-Min looked at the files.

Then at Min-Jae.

"Looks like you have some work to do now."

Min-Jae picked up the files with a miserable expression.

"My life is so difficult."

Soo-Min answered calmly.

"No."

"You just love drama."

The nearby employees laughed once again.

And another ordinary day at the bank began.

Meanwhile...

Ha-Yoon stepped out of the apartment and hurried toward the nearby market.

It was still morning.

People were on their way to work.

Some students walked past in their school uniforms, while others rushed by with coffee cups in their hands.

But Ha-Yoon could only think about one thing.

"I need to buy clothes for him."

Then another thought suddenly crossed her mind.

"I don't even know his size."

She stopped in the middle of the sidewalk.

"Seriously..."

She lightly slapped her forehead.

"I left without even asking his size."

After thinking for a moment, she shrugged.

"Well... he's so tall that the biggest size should fit him anyway."

With that, she walked into a clothing store.

The store was filled with colorful clothes.

Ha-Yoon wandered between the racks.

Her eyes moved from shirts to jackets.

Then she suddenly picked up a black shirt.

Tae-Hyun's face instantly appeared in her mind.

His cold eyes.

His serious expression.

The calm way he always carried himself.

She looked at the shirt and smiled.

"This would look good on him."

A little later, she picked out a dark grey hoodie and a pair of black jeans.

As she walked toward the checkout counter, something bright caught her attention.

A bright yellow T-shirt with a cartoon character on it.

Ha-Yoon stopped.

She picked it up.

Then she imagined Tae-Hyun wearing it.

His serious face...

In that bright yellow cartoon T-shirt.

Two seconds later, she burst into laughter.

"No."

"Absolutely not."

One of the store employees gave her a confused look.

Ha-Yoon quickly put the T-shirt back.

"Sorry."

A few minutes later, carrying a shopping bag in her hand, Ha-Yoon walked out of the store.

A few minutes later, carrying a shopping bag in her hand, Ha-Yoon walked back to the apartment.

As soon as she unlocked the front door and stepped inside, her eyes landed on Tae-Hyun.

He was standing by the window, quietly watching the street outside.

His face was as calm as ever, but his eyes carefully followed the passing cars and people.

Ha-Yoon realized that he was probably still trying to understand this unfamiliar world.

"You're still standing here?" she asked.

Tae-Hyun looked at her.

"What else was I supposed to do after you left?"

Ha-Yoon rolled her eyes.

"Good. At least you didn't create any trouble."

"You have a very wrong impression of me."

"You remind me every ten minutes that my impression is correct."

Tae-Hyun didn't reply.

Ha-Yoon held out the shopping bag.

"Here."

Tae-Hyun took it and looked inside.

"What's this?"

"Clothes."

"Why?"

"Because you can't go outside dressed like that."

Tae-Hyun looked at the black shirt and the dark jeans.

"The clothes in your world are truly strange."

"The clothes in your world weren't any less strange."

"At least they had dignity."

Ha-Yoon laughed.

"Alright, Mr. Pride."

Tae-Hyun raised an eyebrow but said nothing.

"The bathroom is upstairs."

Ha-Yoon pointed toward the staircase.

"If you need anything, just call me."

"Do you really think I don't know how to change my clothes?"

"I'm just making sure."

Without another word, Tae-Hyun picked up the bag and walked upstairs.

Ha-Yoon watched him disappear.

A few moments later, she heard the bathroom door close.

The apartment became quiet again.

She sat down on the sofa.

Then something suddenly crossed her mind.

"Tae-Hyun doesn't know anything about this world..."

She picked up her notebook from the coffee table.

If he was really going to stay here...

He needed to learn a few basic things about this world.

Otherwise, sooner or later, he would definitely end up causing a huge problem.

She opened the notebook and began writing.

Tae-Hyun Survival Guide

- Don't tell anyone that you came from another world.

- Don't talk about swords or battles in front of ordinary people.

- Stay away from the police.

- Don't scare people.

- Don't go anywhere without me.

Ha-Yoon looked at the list carefully.

Then she underlined the fifth rule twice.

Don't go anywhere without me.

"That's definitely the most important one."

She nodded to herself in satisfaction.

But the very next second, she sighed and held her forehead.

"Tae-Hyun isn't going to follow even one of these rules."

A faint sound came from upstairs.

The bathroom door had probably opened.

Ha-Yoon closed her notebook.

A few seconds later...

She heard footsteps coming down the stairs.

One step at a time.

Slow.

Unhurried.

Without realizing it, all her attention shifted toward the staircase.

Then...

Tae-Hyun appeared.

For a moment, Ha-Yoon forgot to speak.

The black shirt.

The dark jeans.

Simple modern clothes.

Yet somehow...

Changing his clothes hadn't changed his presence at all.

The same calm face.

The same cold eyes.

The same quiet confidence.

As if no matter which world he lived in...

He would always stand out.

"You're staring at me again."

Tae-Hyun's voice brought her back to reality.

Ha-Yoon quickly looked away.

"I wasn't staring."

"You were."

"No."

"You're a terrible liar."

Ha-Yoon pouted.

And this time...

A faint smile appeared at the corner of Tae-Hyun's lips.

Only for a moment.

But Ha-Yoon noticed it.

For some reason...

Her heart skipped a beat.
