...You really thought I'd say that? Of course not.
Being a diagnosed Stage 2 patient myself, I understand more than you might think what you're going through. And as for saying "it's okay"... I won't. Because I know that right now, nothing feels okay. When people say, "It'll be okay," it can feel like they're brushing aside everything you're carrying, and sometimes it only makes the frustration worse.
I know there are days when you're exhausted, when you're tired of pretending you're okay, when you're scared, angry, or just numb. I know how unfair it can feel. I won't tell you to "stay strong" every second, because even the strongest people get tired.
But I will tell you this: you don't have to hide how you feel around me. You don't have to force a smile or pretend everything is fine. Cry if you need to. Complain. Be angry. Say you hate everything. Feel whatever you're feeling without worrying that you'll be judged.
I can't promise that things will magically get better overnight. No one can. But I can promise that you don't have to go through it feeling completely alone. One day at a time, one step at a time. And on the days when even one step feels impossible, I'll sit with you through it instead of pretending the pain isn't real.
So no... I won't say "it's okay."
I'll say, "I know this is hard. I know it hurts. And I'm here with you."...
