Tʜᴇ Dᴇᴠɪʟ Cʜᴏsᴇ Hᴇʀ

Bᴇᴄᴀᴜsᴇ Nᴏ Oɴᴇ Eʟsᴇ Dᴏᴇs

People called him the Devil.

Not because he had horns or lived in hell, but because of the way he looked at people—cold, empty, and dangerous. No one dared to get close to him. He never smiled. He never cared. At least, that's what everyone believed.

And then there was her.

She wasn't special.

She wasn't the most beautiful girl in the room, nor the smartest. Most people barely noticed her. She sat quietly in the back, carrying a thousand thoughts she never shared. Behind her smile were scars no one could see.

Every day felt the same.

Until he noticed her.

At first, she didn't believe it.

Why would someone like him look at someone like her?

Yet wherever she went, his eyes seemed to find her. Across crowded hallways. Through noisy rooms. In moments when she felt completely invisible.

It was unsettling.

The Devil was watching her.

People warned her to stay away.

"He's trouble."

"He'll only hurt you."

"Don't get involved with him."

She listened, but a part of her couldn't ignore the strange feeling growing inside her heart.

One rainy evening, she found herself standing alone at a bus stop. The sky was dark, and the streets were empty.

Then he appeared.

Without a word, he stepped beside her and held his umbrella over both of them.

She stared at him in shock.

"Why?" she whispered.

For a moment, he said nothing.

Then he looked at her with eyes that seemed far sadder than they should have been.

"Because no one else does."

Her heart stopped.

No one had ever noticed how lonely she was.

No one except him.

Days turned into weeks.

Slowly, she discovered the truth.

The Devil wasn't heartless.

He was simply broken.

Every cruel word he spoke, every wall he built around himself, every cold glance—none of it came from hatred. It came from pain.

And somehow, he understood hers.

For the first time in years, she felt seen.

For the first time in years, he felt understood.

But happiness never stays forever.

The world still saw him as a monster.

People judged him before they knew him.

And when rumors spread, they turned against her too.

"You'll regret choosing him."

Maybe they were right.

Maybe loving the Devil would end in heartbreak.

Yet every time she looked into his eyes, she saw someone fighting battles no one else could see.

One night, beneath a sky full of stars, he finally asked the question that had haunted him for months.

"Why are you still here?"

She smiled softly.

"Because everyone calls you the Devil."

"And?"

She took his hand.

"And I think they're wrong."

For the first time, he smiled.

A real smile.

Small, fragile, and beautiful.

Maybe he wasn't an angel.

Maybe he never would be.

But out of all the people in the world, the Devil had chosen her.

And she chose him back.
