Beneath the Tide

Chapter One: The Whispering Sea

The village of Adera rested on the edge of a vast blue ocean. Every morning, fishermen sailed into the mist while children played on the warm golden sand. At sunset, the waves glowed like liquid gold, and the elders gathered to tell stories of the sea.

Among all the legends, one stood above the rest.

It was the story of The City Beneath the Tide.

According to the oldest villagers, a magnificent kingdom lay hidden beneath the ocean floor. Its towers were carved from crystal, its streets were made of glowing shells, and its people lived in peace with whales, dolphins, and every creature of the sea.

But hundreds of years ago, the city disappeared beneath the waves.

The elders warned that anyone who searched for it would never return.

Most people laughed at the legend.

Except one girl.

Her name was Lina.

She was sixteen years old, with long black hair, curious brown eyes, and a heart that refused to believe impossible things. While others dreamed of wealth or adventure, Lina dreamed of discovering the truth behind the sea's greatest mystery.

Every evening she walked alone along the shore, listening to the waves.

It always felt as if the ocean was trying to tell her something.

One stormy night, lightning flashed across the sky.

The wind howled.

The tide rose higher than anyone had ever seen.

As Lina hurried home, she noticed something glowing in the wet sand.

It was a shell.

Not an ordinary shell.

It shimmered with blue and silver light, as though tiny stars were trapped inside it.

The moment her fingers touched it...

The sea became silent.

The wind stopped.

The waves froze.

Then, slowly, the ocean began to separate.

Water moved aside like giant curtains, revealing an ancient staircase leading deep beneath the sea.

Lina's heart pounded.

She knew she should run.

But curiosity was stronger than fear.

Taking a deep breath, she stepped onto the staircase.

The water closed behind her.

Yet strangely...

She could still breathe.

A glowing bubble surrounded her, protecting her from the sea.

The deeper she descended, the brighter everything became.

Schools of colorful fish swam beside her.

Sea turtles drifted peacefully through the water.

Massive whales sang songs that echoed through the ocean.

After what felt like hours, Lina reached the bottom.

Before her stood the most beautiful city she had ever imagined.

Crystal towers sparkled like diamonds.

Bridges of coral connected floating gardens.

Blue lanterns made from glowing pearls lit every street.

Merchants sold magical pearls, shimmering sea plants, and precious stones that glowed without fire.

Children laughed as dolphins leaped through canals of crystal-clear water.

It was breathtaking.

A gentle voice spoke behind her.

"Welcome... to the Kingdom Beneath the Tide."

Lina turned.

Standing before her was an elderly sea turtle nearly twice her height.

His shell was covered in ancient golden symbols, and his wise eyes held centuries of knowledge.

"I am Orun," he said.

"I have waited many years for you."

Lina stared in disbelief.

"For me?"

Orun smiled.

"The Heart of the Ocean has chosen you."

He led her through the city until they reached a magnificent palace built entirely from shimmering blue crystal.

In its center floated a giant glowing crystal.

It pulsed like a heartbeat.

"This," Orun said quietly, "is the Heart of the Ocean."

"But it is dying."

Lina looked closer.

Dark cracks spread across the crystal.

Its once-bright light had become weak.

"What happened?" she whispered.

Orun sighed.

"The people above have forgotten the sea."

"They throw waste into our waters."

"They destroy coral reefs."

"They hunt without respect."

"Every act of greed weakens the Heart."

"If it dies..."

He looked toward the dark ocean.

"The balance between land and sea will be lost forever."

Lina swallowed hard.

"What can I do?"

Orun's eyes sparkled.

"There is still hope."

"But first..."

"You must complete the Three Trials of the Tide."

Only then could she save both worlds.

Lina took a deep breath.

"I'll do it."

She had no idea what the trials would bring.

But deep within her heart...

She knew her greatest adventure had only just begun.

End of Chapter One.
