What Happened
It was as if I have seen this scene before laid out before my eyes. I stood still as the world kept spinning time still ticking, that sinister clock mocking every second I spent in its vicinity.
The metallic smell of blood overwhelmingly flooded my nose, as I watched the now lifeless body pierced repeatedly. Such a mess, the floor now stained with that thick sticky blood as it pooled underneath onto that floor.
I could only stand frozen in place eyes unwavering, as much as I wanted to look away I could not. Too afraid of subtle thoughts that lingered in the back of my mind. Too afraid that I'd be next. Too afraid of what I thought I knew and thought I did not know.
I was stuck I did not want to remove my gaze not even for a millisecond in case I am met with those eyes staring right back at me when I return to look at this horror.
One thing was certain. I could not stay here I had to leave. I gathered what little courage I could and slowly turned my head towards the exit, my heart pumping through my body as I could hear it smashing through my rib cage. Clothes slowly soaked in sweat. My way out so close but felt so far.
A few big strides will do the trick neatly.
Slowly at a slightly faster pace I eagerly turned my head back wanting this nightmare to end, just to pause. All the blood drained from my face.
I guess I was right. I should have trusted my gut and never turned around.
Two eyes staring back at me, a shiver creeped up my spine. Petrified was an understatement when in direct view of those glowing orbs, it was obvious something was off they seemed...distant? Like they weren't gazing at me even though they were. It was almost as if something else caught its attention. But what?
AHK! That's when I realised. I was right, not at me but staring through me, behind me my only hope the only way out. He knew it, there was no doubt in it, he knew I realised. This stare was too intense I looked down. Only then I noticed that sinister smile, mouth spread from one cheek to another those pearly whites, yet jaggered and pointed. How did I not notice this sooner it was like those eyes had some sort of sway over me.
Anyone would be just as panicked. I couldn't help but to look back up to those eyes. How did I get here? Was what I thought. Why was I thinking of that and why couldn't I answer the question.
A glimmer caught the corner of my eye that's when I noticed the knife. If I was terrified before the I don't know what to describe this feeling. The room became suffocating. I could see the walls closing in scrunching up like a piece of paper would. My heart thumped relentlessly, I began to hyperventilate, vision blurred and my throat became sore from the shallow breaths. My lungs ached for air.
As quickly as this newfound fear came, it left as if it were never there in the first place. I felt a sense of serenity, as weird as it sounds, but I am no liar.
This silver streak decorated the walls with its shadow and scattered light that danced around beautifully. It was just enough for me to catch a glimpse of it at the edge of my eye, as the knife slowly neared and was raised. It was truly mesmorising.
I was at least 10 feet away. I didn't understand. How it was so close already, only a few feet apart stood its holder. It high above my head closing in. All feelings gone I was numb.
