Chapter 1

“Good day!”

The class just ended. Some are going home, others are…never mind what they do.

Anyways, Lucas has been in this school for a month already and everything seemed peaceful except,

“We let you do whatever for a month, now you have to pay the monthly tribute”

What was going on?

Well, in this school, like in many others, there are bullies…or so Lucas thought.

...[Dorm—West-wing| 9:02 pm]...

He banged his door shot and leaned on it, breathing heavily.

“Is this some sort of mafia? What the heck!”

He locks the door. And goes to check the window.

Over 50 masked people were in the courtyard, each heavily armed.

From the day Lucas refused to pay the tribute, he got attacked by these masked men alll the time, from the moment he left class till he reached his dorm room.

And now it got this serious.

“They are getting closer!” He turns the lights off and goes to bed. “I better pretend to be

asleep.”

Covered in blanket and in total darkness, Lucas couldn’t see anything. Obviously, it was dark. :)

But he heard the footsteps and the voices of those masked men.

“I am sure it was this one”

“Why did you not ask the duke?”

“Whatever…let’s take care of this”

A knock, then another and another and another and another and another and another and another.

A pause …

A weird creaking.

It’s like they are unscrewing something… oh no

“I think it is loose enough”

The loud bang of the broken door was heard and the masked men were now inside his dorm room.

“Do you see him?” a voice from outside asked.

One of the masked men lifted the blanked covering Lucas, and poked his face a few times.

“Yes! he is pretending to be asleep” the masked man replied and proceeded to carry him.

Argg! They know I am pretending

He bucked the one carrying him andd jumped off.

The one reason he was never caught until now was because…he was a good fighter.

He had learned martial arts, and although he wasn’t the best, it was enough to take care of a bunch of kids.

Lucas lunged towards the closest masked man but before making a second step forward, his body started losing balance.

The masked man, carried him “ha~ I thought it will never take effect”

What are they talking about? Shit! I think I am losing consciousness…

...[unknown location| 9:46 pm]...

He opened his eyes, and first thing he saw was…

“OMG!!! An evil king!”

There were others around the "evil king" with normal masks. And the king, was called king surely because of the golden crown design on his mask. Or maybe for another reason but that was the logic of his subordinate, clown.

Anyways, clown came forward and asked the first question.

“Why won’t you pay the tribute”

Lucas preoccupied by something else asked “why are you all masked? Are you all ugly or something?”

The evil king’s clothing looked like the others; simple pants, long boots, a hoodie and a mask. But the king’s own also seemed a little different because of the exquisite designs on his mask and hoodie.

The clown’s mask was also unique, it was also black but had a smile and squinted eyes, also, he was huge.

Anyways, now, Lucas started to realize that there were more people with different masks.

“Hey!! Lucas Webb!” the clown called out.

Lucas snapped out of it. “I just realized, some of you have different masks what is it for?”

The clown disturbed turns to the king, who seemed bored out of his mind. He turns back to Lucas muttering how he has to take care of everything.

“Why won’t you pay the tribute. It’s just $50 a month. Why won’t you pay?”

Lucas who seemed to take the question seriously this time replied with outmost seriousness and professionalism “why the heck should I pay?”

“Huh?”

“I don’t understand! What is this organization anyways? Why are you extorting high school kids?”

“Why won’t you pay the tribute. It’s just $50 a month. Why won’t you pay?” The clown repeated.
