Episode 2: The First Specimen

The emergency siren wailed through the underground levels.

Scientists abandoned their workstations.

Security teams sprinted toward the containment wing.

Adrian looked around in confusion.

"What happened?"

Dr. Freya's smile vanished.

"Stay here."

Before she could leave, Elias appeared beside Adrian.

"You're coming with me."

"I don't take orders from CEOs."

"You will if you want to survive."

Without waiting for an answer, Elias led him through a series of reinforced doors. The deeper they descended, the colder the air became.

Level 7 – Restricted Zone

Steel doors slid open with a heavy hiss.

Behind thick glass stood a creature unlike anything Adrian had ever seen.

It resembled a white arctic wolf, but its body shimmered with faint blue bioluminescence. Delicate antler-like branches of crystal grew from its head, and its bright golden eyes watched every person in the room with unsettling intelligence.

"It's beautiful..." Adrian whispered.

Dr. Noah Quinn, the station's zoologist, grinned.

"We named it Auroris. It's unlike any known species."

"It shouldn't exist," Adrian replied. "Its biology combines traits from several unrelated animals."

Before anyone could answer, the creature let out a low, haunting call.

Every monitor in the room flickered.

Then the lights went out.

Darkness.

A scream echoed down the corridor.

When the emergency lights came on, a security guard lay motionless on the floor.

There wasn't a single wound on his body.

But every drop of blood had disappeared.

Panic spread through the laboratory.

"The containment seals are intact!" someone shouted.

"So what killed him?"

No one had an answer.

Adrian knelt beside the body.

The skin was pale, almost translucent.

"No blood... but no visible injuries," he murmured.

"This wasn't an animal attack."

Elias watched him carefully.

"What do you think it was?"

Adrian looked up.

"Either someone here has discovered a terrifying new weapon..."

He paused.

"...or there's another species on this island that nobody has told me about."

Elias didn't answer.

His silence was answer enough.

Later that night, Adrian returned to his room.

Someone had slipped an old photograph under his door.

His hands trembled as he picked it up.

It showed a group of researchers standing in front of the Eden laboratory—taken fifteen years earlier.

Among them was his father.

But another face caught his eye.

Standing beside his father, smiling at the camera...

...was a much younger Elias Frost.

Adrian stared at the photo in disbelief.

"How is that possible?"

Elias looked no older now than he had fifteen years ago.

Outside Adrian's window, a shadow moved silently across the snow.

Someone—or something—was watching him.
