The grand ballroom sparkled beneath crystal chandeliers, glowing with white roses and golden lights. Every important business leader, politician, and celebrity had gathered for one event—the wedding of the youngest CEO in the country.

Outside, reporters crowded behind security barriers, calling Adrian Ashford's name. Camera flashes lit up the entrance as luxury cars arrived one after another.

Inside the waiting room, Kai Laurent stared at his reflection in the mirror.

The white suit fit him perfectly, yet he couldn't recognize the person wearing it.

Only two weeks ago, he had been designing clothes in his small studio, living an ordinary life. Then a mysterious marriage proposal had arrived. Before he could understand why, contracts had been signed, dates had been chosen, and today...

He was getting married to a man he barely knew.

A soft knock came at the door.

"It's time, Mr. Laurent."

Kai took a deep breath before stepping into the hall.

The music began.

Hundreds of guests turned to watch him walk down the aisle.

Kai swallowed the nervous lump in his throat.

"I do."

Applause filled the ballroom.

The marriage papers were signed.

Camera flashes exploded around them.

To the world, they looked like the perfect newly married couple.

Only they knew the truth.

This marriage wasn't built on love.

It was built on a promise neither of them fully understood.

Late that evening, the celebration finally ended.

The black limousine stopped before the enormous Ashford Mansion.

Kai stepped out and looked at the towering gates, the marble fountain, and the elegant gardens stretching into the distance.

"This place is huge..." he whispered.

"It has to be," Adrian replied calmly. "Too many people depend on what's inside these walls."

Inside the mansion, everything was quiet.

A housekeeper welcomed Kai before disappearing down a hallway.

Adrian handed Kai a silver keycard.

"You can enter almost every room."

Kai looked at it curiously.

"Almost?"

"My office stays locked."

Kai nodded.

"I won't enter without permission."

For the first time that day, Adrian looked at him for more than a second.

"Thank you."

Before either of them could say another word—

BOOM!

A deafening explosion shook the mansion.

The chandeliers trembled.

Security alarms echoed through every hallway.

Within seconds, armed guards rushed toward the entrance.

One of them stopped in front of Adrian, breathing heavily.

"Sir! The outer gate has been attacked!"

Adrian's expression instantly hardened.

"Casualties?"

"None... but the attackers left a message."

The guard hesitated before speaking again.

"They said they aren't here for Ashford Group..."

A heavy silence filled the room.

"They're here for... Kai Laurent."

Kai felt his heart skip a beat.

He had never met those people.

He had never made enemies.

So why...

...was someone willing to attack one of the most powerful families in the country just to find him?
