The ancient chamber fell silent.
Only Lucien's uneven breathing echoed against the stone walls.
He stared at Cael, whose luminous wings slowly dissolved into countless golden feathers before disappearing completely. Within seconds, he looked like an ordinary man again—except for the exhaustion in his silver eyes.
Lucien took a cautious step back.
"...What are you?"
Cael didn't answer immediately.
Instead, he looked at the glowing inscription on the stone door.
"The Second Seal is waking earlier than it should."
"Stop avoiding my question!"
Lucien's voice echoed through the chamber.
"I saw those wings! I saw them in my dream before I ever met you! Who are you? Who am I?"
For the first time, Cael's calm façade cracked.
His expression was filled with grief.
"I promised myself I wouldn't tell you until you remembered on your own."
He lowered his gaze.
"But destiny has never cared about promises."
Before he could continue, footsteps echoed from the hidden passage.
"Elias?" Lucien called instinctively.
No answer.
Instead, a young woman stepped into the chamber.
She wore a black coat over a crimson dress, and strands of silver hair framed a face that seemed almost unnaturally beautiful. Her violet eyes sparkled with amusement.
She smiled.
"So this is the lifetime where you finally meet again."
Lucien frowned.
"Who are you?"
She gave a graceful bow.
"My name is Lyra."
Her eyes shifted to Cael.
"It's been a long time, Commander."
Cael's expression hardened instantly.
"You shouldn't be here."
"I could say the same about you."
Lyra laughed softly.
"Still trying to protect him from the truth?"
Lucien looked between them.
"You know each other?"
"We fought together."
Lyra paused.
"...And against each other."
Before Lucien could ask another question, Lyra raised her hand.
A wave of shimmering light spread across the chamber.
The air distorted.
The stone walls disappeared.
Suddenly, Lucien found himself standing in the middle of a magnificent celestial city floating above endless clouds.
Crystal towers reached into the heavens.
Angels soared through the sky.
Golden rivers flowed between gardens that glowed with starlight.
"It's... beautiful," Lucien whispered.
"This," Lyra said quietly, "was the Celestial Realm before the war."
The vision changed.
The peaceful city burst into flames.
The sky turned black.
Winged soldiers fell from the heavens like shooting stars.
Monstrous shadows swallowed entire palaces.
Lucien heard desperate screams.
He saw an angel in silver armor leading the heavenly army.
Caelum.
He saw a young human mage fighting beside him.
Lucien.
Then...
Their hands intertwined amid the chaos.
Not as commander and soldier.
Not as angel and human.
But as two people deeply in love.
A warm voice echoed through the vision.
"When this war ends..."
"Let's see the world together."
Lucien's heart tightened painfully.
Tears rolled down his cheeks before he realized he was crying.
"Why..." he whispered.
"Why does this hurt so much?"
The vision shattered like broken glass.
The chamber returned.
Lucien dropped to one knee, clutching his chest.
"I know that voice..."
Cael instinctively reached out to steady him, but stopped just short of touching his shoulder.
His hand trembled.
"Lucien..."
Before either of them could speak, the Codex suddenly materialized in the center of the chamber, floating several feet above the ground.
Its pages turned rapidly on their own.
Ancient silver letters spread across an open page.
Second Seal Activated.
Memory Fragment Restored.
Guardian Chosen.
The entire chamber shook violently.
Deep beneath the floor, something ancient let out a roar that made the walls crack.
Far away, inside the hidden sanctuary of the Black Covenant, Azrael Noctis slowly smiled as he watched a black flame dance above his altar.
"The Second Seal..."
He closed his eyes.
"Excellent."
He turned toward his followers.
"Prepare the Rite of Broken Heaven."
One terrified cultist hesitated.
"My Lord... that ritual was forbidden even before the Celestial War."
Azrael's smile widened.
"Exactly."
Back beneath the museum, a narrow crack appeared across the ancient stone door.
From within the darkness beyond it, a single crimson eye opened.
It blinked once.
Then a deep voice echoed through the chamber.
"Caelum... after a thousand years... have you finally returned?"
The voice did not sound angry.
It sounded... delighted.
