Chapter IV

Jeremiah, on his way back to the kingdom, he has a thought. "Where am I going to find me a virgin maid." Then he remembered a church down the hill where the priest, his 'friend', is. So, with his horse, he went to the church. As soon as he opened the heavy gate, he saw that he almost interrupted the nun's prayers. He waited in the benches. Just watching and staring. Then, the priest came to him.

"My very good friend!" the priest rejoiced when he saw Jeremiah sitting on one of the benches at the fourth row. "What brings you here?" he asked as he sat close to him.

Jeremiah turned to the priest. "Nicholas, you know we have been friends for a long time, and we've helped each other in some cases,"

"Yes, of course," said Nicholas, the priest. " I will never forget about us."

"Good." Jeremiah nodded and sat up right, inhale and exhaled, and looked at the priest. "I need a nun,"

This surprised Nicholas. He doesn't understand why he would make such a request. "A Nun ?" Nicholas asked with disbelief, "What for?"

Jeremiah knew this would be the question if he asked for anything from Nicholas, including a maid. He is this close to victory, and he can't let it all go to waste. He has to think of what to do.

"I want to show my niece the benefits of being a nun."

"You and I know that you're an orphan, you don't have any family members, tell me the truth. Why do you want a nun?"

Jeremiah sighed. Will Nicholas do it for him if Jeremiah tells him the truth? After all he is the priest of a poor church, what else could he possibly do?

Jeremiah explained everything to Nicholas.

"I want to be king!! I'm tired of being a servant - like - advisor to the royal family." Jeremiah said with desperation and deceit. That his voice echoed in the church walls. Nicholas watched him in Disbelief.

"But you know in the bible in the book of Matthew chapter 7:7 'Ask, and it shall be given unto you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be open upon thee' ..." he said it in a calm and disturbed voice.

"I don't want to hear about this!!" Jeremiah snapped at him with rage "I've been asking for the throne, why didn't your God answer that for me?" Jeremiah said, with rage, disappointment and… Uncleanness.

Nicholas could only look at him "You can't rush the lord" he said it in a calm and soothing voice. Jeremiah couldn't believe it. The person that was supposed to help him achieve his plan couldn't do it.

"Fine!! Just FINE!!!" Jeremiah roared at Nicholas. He came closer to him and pointed at himself "I will soon, be declared, as their Rightful king!! To the throne, and when I do, you'll wish you haven't met me" Jeremiah stormed out of the church, leaving Nicholas by himself, with his eyes glistened with tears and a heart ached in his soul. He looked up to the glass portrait of Mary holding Jesus as a baby boy with that calm look on their faces. There was nothing that Nicholas could do. Rather, he walked to the altar and prayed for Jeremiah's heart to be cleared from any evil entity.

Jeremiah was walking around the city's market alongside Lucas, his trusted guard, when they encountered a young maiden. This could be his opportunity. As he was having a talk with her, he later found out that she is an orphan and has not known any man. Jeremiah smiled that trustworthy smile that draws people closer to him. He promised her that she will have a family soon. With rejoice and gladness, she followed them to the old witch's cottage. She thought she'd find a home and family, until the old woman placed a deep sleep spell on her and took a knife and cut out her heart which was still pumping out blood. The witch laughed and laughed as darkness starts to fall.

"It is done!" She said to Jeremiah. "As soon as you walk into the castle's courtroom, sit yourself on the throne. I've given you power to take whatever you want without people questioning you."

"And the Queen?" Jeremiah asked.

The old with laughed again. "Don't worry about her, leave everything to me."

This made Jeremiah feel pleased that he promised the old witch that if it happens, he would pay her handsomely.
