Futaba Kindergarten.
A place where children learned, played, and made memories.
At least... that was the plan.
Because whenever Shinchan entered the picture, plans usually disappeared.
Morning — Futaba Kindergarten.
Kazama Toru walked into the classroom with a confident smile.
His uniform was neat.
His bag was properly arranged.
His homework was finished.
Everything was perfect.
"Today will be a calm and productive day," Kazama said to himself.
He sat down and opened his book.
A peaceful morning.
No trouble.
No noise.
No chaos.
...
"KA-ZA-MA!"
Kazama's eye twitched.
He slowly looked up.
There he was.
Shinchan Nohara
The walking disaster.
"Good morning, Kazama!"
Kazama sighed.
"Why do you always say my name like you're announcing a special event?"
"Because seeing you is a special event."
"That doesn't make sense."
"It does to me."
Kazama stared at him.
"That is exactly the problem."
Shinchan smiled and sat beside him.
"Let's be friends today."
"We are already classmates."
"Same thing."
"No, it isn't."
"Then let's become classmates and friends."
"We are already classmates!"
"Great! Half the work is done."
Kazama opened his mouth to argue.
Then stopped.
He realized there was no point.
During Class
Miss Yoshinaga clapped her hands.
"Everyone, today we are going to do a drawing activity."
The children happily took out their crayons.
Kazama carefully started drawing a beautiful picture.
He added details.
He chose the right colors.
He wanted his drawing to be the best.
Then...
A shadow appeared over his desk.
"What's that?"
Kazama looked up.
"Shinchan, please don't lean over my desk."
"I'm just checking your art."
"You mean you're copying."
"I call it inspiration."
"You haven't even picked a crayon."
Shinchan looked at the blank paper in front of him.
"Hmm..."
Kazama waited.
"What are you drawing?"
Shinchan smiled proudly.
"A secret."
Five minutes later...
Kazama looked at Shinchan's drawing.
Silence.
"..."
"Well?"
Kazama pointed at the paper.
"Is that supposed to be a dog?"
"No."
"A cat?"
"No."
"A person?"
"No."
"Then what is it?"
Shinchan proudly answered:
"A super powerful potato."
Kazama blinked.
"A potato?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Because potatoes also have dreams."
Kazama stared at the drawing.
He didn't understand anything.
And yet...
A tiny smile appeared on his face.
He quickly hid it.
"You're strange."
"But you smiled."
"I did not."
"You did."
"I didn't."
"You did."
"I said I didn't!"
Lunch Break
Nene, Masao, and Bo-chan watched the two boys arguing.
"You two fight a lot," Nene said.
"We are not fighting," Kazama replied.
"We are having a serious discussion," Shinchan added.
Masao looked at the potato drawing.
"About the potato?"
"Yes," Shinchan said seriously.
Bo-chan nodded.
"Important topic."
Kazama looked at everyone.
"Why is everyone accepting this?"
"Because it's Shinchan," Nene replied.
That answer somehow explained everything.
After school, Kazama packed his bag.
Finally.
A normal day was ending.
Then he heard a familiar voice.
"Kazama!"
He turned around.
"What now?"
Shinchan ran toward him.
"You forgot your pencil."
Kazama looked down.
His pencil case was open.
One pencil was missing.
Shinchan held it out.
"You dropped it."
Kazama took it.
"Oh..."
A small pause.
"Thanks."
Shinchan smiled.
"You're welcome."
Kazama looked away.
"Don't think this means anything."
"It means you like me."
"It means I said thank you!"
"Same thing."
"It is absolutely not the same thing!"
And just like that...
Their argument continued.
But neither of them noticed something.
The classroom felt quieter when the other wasn't around.
Their days were different.
Their personalities were different.
They annoyed each other more than anyone else.
But somehow...
The serious boy and the chaotic boy had started becoming a team.
And this was only the beginning.
Thankyou guys!!! 🫶🏼🌷
