My breath was stuck in my chest. Tears streamed down my cheeks, and my heart was beating like a little bird trapped inside my chest.

I was curled up in a corner, hugging myself with my arms...

The screams and shouts made my ears ring, and I was trembling in fear.

But my fear... my sadness... my tears... and even I myself... meant nothing to anyone.

My father threw a hard punch at Alistair’s right cheek.

My mother screamed and tried to see his face, but Lucian harshly pushed her hand away and went to help his little brother.

My father cursed and shouted in frustration:

— You bastards! How dare you stand against me? If it wasn’t for me, you would have been begging for scraps under a bridge.

Lucian angrily stared at my father with his cold blue eyes.

His gaze was terrifying, as if he could tear my father’s head apart right there.

I trembled and hugged myself tighter...

Lucian always reminded me of a wild, dangerous wolf.

When he was angry, he had no fear of spilling blood.

My father knew this very well. He was slightly frightened by Lucian’s cold and sharp gaze, so he stepped back.

Alistair, who was rubbing his swollen and bruised cheek, suddenly started laughing hysterically.

He turned his deep black eyes toward my frightened mother and said coldly:

— You’re finally getting rid of us... Take care of yourself.

He said that, and without even looking at me once, they picked up their suitcases and walked toward the exit.

My heart trembled...

I didn’t want them to leave...

If Lucian and Alistair left, then what would happen to me?

Why were they leaving me alone?

I moved my trembling little legs and ran toward them with tears in my eyes.

They stopped for a moment...

But they still didn’t turn around.

They didn’t look at me.

They didn’t say goodbye to their annoying, unwanted little sister.

My face was wet with tears, and my hair was stuck to my skin because of sweat.

I grabbed the edges of their jackets with my left and right hands one after another and pulled them helplessly.

I wanted them to look at me...

I wanted them to hug me...

For once, I wanted them to choose me...

But their eyes stayed fixed ahead, and I remained behind them like always.

— Can you... can you please not go? Please stay...

— Alistair... Lucian, don’t leave me alone...

— Don’t abandon me here...

— I promise I won’t cry anymore or bother you. I’ll even clean your rooms. I’ll give you my sandwiches too. Just take me with you.

I burst into loud sobs.

My whole body was begging them not to leave...

My voice was trembling, and my eyes stayed fixed on their backs.

Lucian’s hand tightened into a fist, and Alistair bit his lip...

They didn’t look at me.

At the same time, they removed my hands from their jackets and walked away...

Leaving me behind, just like always.
