Chapter 1 – The Debt That Changed Everything

The rain poured heavily over the city, turning the streets into shimmering rivers under the glow of streetlights. Inside a tiny apartment, Zara Malik, a 22-year-old university student, sat at the kitchen table with unpaid bills scattered before her. Her father had borrowed a huge amount of money years ago to save the family business, but after his sudden death, the debt remained.

Every week, strangers came to the apartment demanding payment. They never cared that Zara worked two part-time jobs or that her younger brother, Adam, was still in school. To them, money was all that mattered.

One evening, as Zara returned home from work, she noticed three black luxury cars parked outside her building. Men dressed in black suits stood silently near the entrance. Their cold expressions sent a chill through her body.

"Miss Zara Malik?" one of them asked.

She nodded cautiously.

"Our boss would like to meet you."

"I don't know your boss."

"You will."

Before she could protest, they escorted her into one of the cars. Fear gripped her heart, but she stayed calm. Running was impossible.

The car stopped outside an enormous mansion surrounded by high walls and armed guards. It looked less like a home and more like a fortress.

She was led into a grand office where a tall man stood beside a large window overlooking the city.

Without turning around, he spoke.

"So... you're finally here."

His deep voice echoed through the room.

When he faced her, Zara froze.

He was breathtakingly handsome, dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit. His sharp jawline, dark eyes, and calm expression made him look both elegant and terrifying.

"My name is Kian Shah," he said.

She had heard that name before.

The most feared mafia leader in the country.

The man everyone whispered about.

The man who never forgave betrayal.

"You owe me ten million dollars," he said calmly.

"My family doesn't have that kind of money."

"I know."

"Then why am I here?"

"Because debts are always paid."

Zara clenched her fists.

"I didn't borrow your money."

"But your father did."

Tears filled her eyes.

"My father is dead."

Kian looked at her silently for several seconds.

"I know."

His expression didn't change.

"I can give you time," he continued.

"How much?"

"A lifetime."

She frowned.

"What does that mean?"

"It means you'll work for me."

"I'll never become a criminal."

A faint smile appeared on his face.

"I never asked you to."

Confused, she stared at him.

"I need someone I can trust."

"You don't even know me."

"I've already investigated you."

The words shocked her.

"You've been watching me?"

"For months."

Fear spread through her chest.

"Why?"

"Because honest people are rare."

She couldn't believe what she was hearing.

A mafia boss wanted an honest employee.

"There must be another reason."

"There is."

"What is it?"

"You remind me of someone I lost."

Silence filled the room.

For the first time, sadness appeared in Kian's eyes.

It disappeared almost instantly.

"You'll stay here until the debt is repaid."

"I refuse."

He walked closer.

"So your brother should pay instead?"

Her heart stopped.

"You know about Adam?"

"I know everything."

She looked down.

He wasn't threatening her.

He was simply stating a fact.

Slowly, she whispered,

"I'll stay."

"Good."

He handed her a contract.

"You'll have your own room."

"What exactly will I do?"

"Organize my business schedule."

"And if I try to escape?"

His smile returned.

"You won't."

"How can you be so sure?"

"Because your family needs you alive."

Those words broke the last piece of courage she had left.

That night, Zara stood on the balcony of her luxurious bedroom inside the mansion.

Everything looked beautiful.

But to her...

It felt like a golden prison.

Far below, she noticed Kian standing alone in the garden.
