The door clicked shut behind him.
Silence returned to the corridor.
Without sparing a glance at the guards standing on either side, he walked toward his private office. His footsteps echoed through the marble hallway, measured and unhurried. Every employee he passed instinctively stepped aside, lowering their heads until he was gone.
No one dared to speak.
A few moments later, the heavy steel door of his office slid open.
The room overlooked the glittering city below, but he paid the skyline no attention. He removed his black leather gloves, placed them neatly on the desk, and set the thin mission file beside them.
His eyes lingered on it.
Victor:- isn't it too thin ?
A faint crease formed between his brows.
Victor :- "Strange..."
He flipped open the file.
The first page contained only a photograph.
A young teenager girl.
Calm eyes.
An unreadable smile.
He turned the page.
Name :- ROSE
Age :- 18
Last known location :- juvillen
Nothing more
.
He flipped another page.
Blank.
Another.
Blank.
His expression remained unchanged, but his fingers stopped moving.
Victor :- "Impossible."
Every target left behind a history—school records, bank transactions, family members, medical reports, travel logs. Even ghosts left footprints.
She had none.
He pressed the intercom button on his desk.
"Send Director Adrian to my office."
"Yes, sir."
Less than a minute later, a knock echoed through the room.
"Enter."
A middle-aged man in a dark suit stepped inside and bowed respectfully.
"You called for me, sir?"
Assassin slid the file across the desk.
"I want everything about her ."
The director opened it, scanning the few pages inside.
His confident expression slowly faded.
Adrian :- "...Is this all?"
Victor :- "That's what concerns me."
The director looked up.
"I'll have the Intelligence Division search every database we control."
"Not every database
He rose from his chair and buttoned his coat.
"Every database in the world."
The director hesitated.
"Sir... if someone erased her identity deliberately, this investigation could alert whoever is hiding her."
A brief silence settled over the room.
Then the assassin picked up the photograph again.
"If they're hiding her..."
His cold gaze rested on the girl's face.
"...then they've just given me a reason to find her."
He placed the photograph back into the file.
"Prepare the Intelligence Division."
"Yes, sir."
As the director hurried from the office, the protagonist looked once more at the closed file. The lights in the Intelligence Division dimmed as the largest monitor flickered to life.
Now ,Rows of analysts sat motionless, waiting.
The chief analyst adjusted his glasses before speaking.
"Sir, we've searched government records, financial databases, hospitals, universities, immigration logs... nothing."
Victor :-folded his arms.
"Nothing?"
"Yes, sir. It's as if she never existed."
Silence filled the room.
An analyst suddenly raised his hand.
"Wait... I found something."
Every pair of eyes turned toward him.
Victor:- Hurry up and show it !
"It's an old CCTV recording from three months ago. The quality is poor, but the facial recognition system returned a seventy-eight percent match."
Victor :-"Play it."
The footage appeared on the screen.
A quiet street.
The girl walked alone beneath the glow of the streetlights, carrying a backpack over one shoulder.
One analyst frowned.
"She looks... ordinary."
Seconds later, three masked men stepped into the alley, blocking her path.
Another analyst leaned forward.
"They're armed."
Victor:- let's see further
The room became completely silent.
One of the men reached toward her.
Then...
The screen glitched.
Static covered the monitor for barely two seconds.
When the picture returned...
All three men were lying on the ground.
"One clutched his shoulder."
"Another struggled to breathe."
"The third was unconscious".
And...
The girl was gone.
Everyone was too shocked to react .
The assassin kept his eyes fixed on the screen.
"Replay."
The footage played again.
He watched every frame.
"Pause."
The analyst froze the image just before the glitch.
The protagonist stepped closer.
"Zoom in."
The pixels sharpened just enough to reveal the girl's posture.
A faint smile crossed his lips.
"Interesting..."
The chief analyst looked confused.
"What did you notice, sir?"
"She wasn't surprised."
The room fell silent again.
He continued,
"She saw them before they surrounded her."
Another analyst swallowed nervously.
"So... she was trained?"
The protagonist's gaze never left the screen.
"No."
He paused.
"She was expecting them."
The analysts exchanged uneasy glances.
The chief analyst finally asked,
"Should we continue searching?"
The protagonist turned away from the monitor.
"Yes."
"For her?"
He picked up the mission file.
"Yes "
The last monitor went dark.
Silence settled over the Intelligence Division.
The protagonist picked up the file and closed it with a quiet snap.
"Continue digging," he ordered.
The chief analyst nodded. "Yes, sir."
"If anyone accesses this file..."
He paused.
"...report to me immediately."
"No one else."
"Understood."
Without another word, he turned and walked toward the exit.
The automatic doors slid open.
His bodyguard was already waiting outside.
"The car is ready, sir."
He slipped the file into his coat.
"Good."
The bodyguard hesitated to ask
"Where are we going?"
The assassin looked at the photograph one last time before closing the file.
"Her last known location."
"You intend to eliminate the target personally?"
A faint smile—cold and unreadable—appeared on his lips.
"I intend to find out why she's worth killing."
The elevator doors opened.
He stepped inside.
As the doors slowly closed, his eyes never left the photograph.
Far away, completely unaware...
The girl continued living her ordinary life.
She had no idea...
The deadliest man in the underworld was already on his way to find her.
