Chapter 2-The Light That Changed Everything

Kaito Arakawa — Perspective

While I was escorting Yuna Shirosaki, another girl suddenly appeared in front of us. She started talking to Yuna in private, so I just stood there on the road, not wanting to interrupt.

A few moments later, the girl who was talking to Yuna walked toward me. She looked at me carefully and spoke in a quiet voice.

"So… you're Yuna Shirosaki's boyfriend?"

Her tone sounded suspicious, like she was testing me.

Before I could respond, Yuna returned.

She introduced me to the girl, and then introduced the girl to me.

"This is my best friend," Yuna said. "Reina Kamihara."

The girl smiled politely. "Nice to meet you."

After that, she decided to come with us.

---

Eventually, we reached Yuna Shirosaki's house.

Reina seemed in a hurry, so she left quickly after saying goodbye.

Then Yuna turned to me.

"Can I borrow your phone for a second?"

I handed it to her without thinking too much.

She typed something and then returned it.

When I checked, she had added her number and saved herself as my contact… even adding a heart next to her name like a girlfriend.

I froze slightly.

"…Why did you exchange numbers with me?" I asked. "I'm just acting as your fake boyfriend."

She smiled softly.

"It's to make the fake relationship more believable," she said. "If we act like a real couple, it'll be easier to lure out the stalker and report him to the police."

"…I see," I replied. "Alright then."

"I'm going home. Bye."

---

A few minutes later, I received a message from Yuna.

> "Tomorrow will be the best chance to lure out the stalker. Meet me at the park."

I replied simply.

> "Okay."

Then I went to bed.

---

### Next Day

I woke up, ate breakfast, took a bath, and got ready.

Today was supposed to be simple—lure out the stalker quickly through this fake date and end everything.

After that… I could return to my normal life.

---

I arrived at the park, and Yuna was already there waiting.

"Why are you so early?" I asked.

"It's better to be early than late," she replied calmly.

I nodded slightly.

But something felt off.

The stalker wasn't there.

No sign of him at all.

---

Suddenly, a black car rushed toward us at high speed.

"Get out of the way!"

Before I could react properly, someone appeared—Reina Kamihara.

She seemed to be trying to save us, but everything happened too fast.

A bright light suddenly burst out of nowhere.

My vision was completely engulfed.

---

When I opened my eyes again… everything had changed.

We were in a forest.

"What…?"

A voice echoed inside my head.

> "Hello. It is nice to meet you."

> "Genesis System has been activated."

I looked around in shock.

Yuna and Reina were slowly waking up beside me.

"Did you hear that?" I asked.

"Hear what?" Yuna replied, confused. "I didn't hear anything…"

Reina shook her head too. "Me neither…"

Only I could hear it.

The voice continued inside my mind.

> "You have been transported to another world."

My eyes widened.

"…What?"

I couldn't believe it.

"In another world…?!"

Yuna Shirosaki — Perspective

I didn't expect things to turn out like this.

It all started as a simple lie… or at least, that's what I told myself.

Kaito Arakawa was supposed to be just a temporary solution. A quiet guy who wouldn't ask questions. Someone who would help me deal with that stalker situation without making things complicated.

But nothing stayed simple for long.

---

When I first saw him standing there after I bumped into him, I thought he would refuse immediately.

Most people would've.

But he didn't even react the way I expected. No panic, no curiosity… just calm confusion. Like everything in the world didn't really matter to him.

That's when I knew he was the right choice.

---

He agreed to help me.

Just like that.

No demands. No hesitation.

It should've made me feel relieved.

Instead… I felt something strange. Like I was the one being pulled into something I didn't understand.

---

After Reina showed up and we all went together, I kept watching him when he wasn't looking.

He didn't act like someone playing a role.

He acted like someone who was simply… tired of the world.

That thought stuck in my mind longer than it should have.

---

When I asked for his phone, I told myself it was just part of the plan.

Save the number. Make the fake relationship look real. Lure out the stalker.

That was all.

Simple logic.

But when I added my name… I added that little heart without thinking.

The moment I saw it afterward, I almost deleted it.

Almost.

But I didn't.

Even I didn't understand why.

---

The next morning, I texted him.

"Tomorrow will be the best chance."

I expected a short reply.

And I got exactly that.

But somehow… I kept staring at his response longer than I should have.

---

At the park, I arrived early.

I told myself it was strategy.

But really… I just didn't want to be late.

Kaito arrived soon after.

He looked the same as always. Calm. Quiet. Like nothing could really disturb him.

I answered his question casually.

"It's better to be early than late."

That wasn't the real reason.

The real reason was… I didn't know what would happen if I wasn't there first.

---

But then something felt wrong.

The stalker wasn't there.

No presence. No movement. Nothing.

That shouldn't have been possible.

---

Then everything happened too fast.

A black car came rushing toward us.

I barely had time to react.

Reina appeared suddenly, shouting something.

And then—

A light.

Bright. Overwhelming. Impossible.

Everything disappeared.

---

When I opened my eyes, I was lying on the ground.

Cold air.

Trees everywhere.

A forest.

"W-where… am I?"

My mind felt foggy. My heart was racing.

I looked around.

Kaito was there too. Reina as well.

Relief should've come.

But it didn't last.

Because then I heard it.

A voice.

Not from outside.

From inside my head.

---

I turned toward Kaito.

"…Did you hear that?"

But he didn't answer the way I expected.

Confusion appeared on his face.

That's when I realized—

It was only him hearing it.

Only Kaito.

---

When he said we were in another world… I couldn't process it.

It didn't make sense.

It shouldn't be real.

And yet…

Looking at his expression, I knew something had already changed.

Something none of us could undo.

And for the first time…

I felt scared.

Not of the situation.

But of what Kaito might become in this world.

Reina Kamihara — Perspective

At first, I thought it was just another normal day.

Yuna had been acting a little strange lately, but I didn't think too much about it. She always handles things on her own, even when she shouldn't.

So when I saw her with that boy… Kaito Arakawa… I got curious.

---

He looked exactly like people described him.

Quiet. Distant. The kind of person who blends into the background of a classroom.

But something about him felt off.

Not in a bad way…

Just different.

Like he wasn't really "part" of the world around him.

---

When I asked Yuna about him in private, she avoided my question at first. That alone told me something was going on.

Then she introduced him as her… fake boyfriend.

I almost laughed.

Yuna Shirosaki? The girl who plans everything carefully? Suddenly doing something like *this*?

That didn't sound like her at all.

---

So I tested him.

I asked him directly.

"So… you're Yuna's boyfriend?"

I watched his reaction closely.

No nervous laughter. No panic. No attempt to impress me.

Just silence… and confusion.

That was strange.

Most guys would try to explain themselves immediately.

But he didn't.

---

After Yuna confirmed everything, I decided to go with them.

Not because I trusted the situation…

But because I didn't trust the stalker situation either.

Something about it felt wrong.

---

When we reached Yuna's house, I could tell something was off in the air.

Kaito didn't act like a "fake boyfriend."

He acted like someone who just wanted to finish the task and disappear again.

That kind of personality…

It's not normal.

It felt like he had already accepted that he didn't belong anywhere.

---

Then everything got even stranger.

The black car.

The sudden panic.

And the light.

---

I remember shouting.

I remember running forward.

I remember trying to push them out of the way—

And then nothing.

---

When I opened my eyes again, I wasn't in the city anymore.

Trees.

Forest.

Silent wind.

My body felt heavy as I tried to stand.

"What… is this place?"

Yuna was beside me. Kaito too.

At least we were together.

That should've been reassuring.

But then I saw his face.

He wasn't just confused.

He was listening to something.

Something we couldn't hear.

---

When he said we were in another world…

I froze.

That should've been impossible.

Fantasy. Fiction. Stories.

Not reality.

But looking at Kaito's expression… I realized something terrifying.

He wasn't guessing.

He knew.

Or at least… something was telling him it was true.

---

And that's when I understood.

This wasn't just an accident.

Something brought us here.

And whatever it was…

It chose *him* first.
