Chapter Five — Lost Glasses

The autumn afternoon was peaceful.

Classes had just ended, and students spilled out onto the campus lawns. Some lounged on the grass with friends, others practiced for upcoming events, while the boxing club packed up after an outdoor conditioning session.

The sky was clear, and a cool breeze rustled the trees.

Felix's POV

"...Where...?"

Felix crouched carefully in the grass, one hand sweeping over the ground.

Nothing.

His heart sank.

No, no...

His glasses had slipped off somewhere between the library and the main lawn. He hadn't even heard them fall.

Without them...

The world became a blur of colors and vague shapes.

Trees melted into green patches.

People became moving silhouettes.

He could barely recognize someone's face unless they stood right in front of him.

Felix blinked repeatedly, hoping his vision would somehow clear.

It didn't.

"...I really need those..."

He carefully patted the grass again.

His soft blue cardigan slipped slightly off one shoulder as he leaned forward, and the cream-colored skirt he wore gathered around his knees.

To anyone watching...

He looked like a tiny lost puppy searching desperately for something precious.

Students walked past him.

Some glanced over.

A few giggled.

But nobody stopped.

Felix wasn't the type to call for help.

He simply kept searching.

"Maybe they're over here..."

He crawled a little farther.

Only to accidentally bump into a park bench.

"...Ow."

He rubbed his forehead with a tiny pout.

Dante's POV

Dante exited the sports building, gym bag slung over one shoulder.

Practice had been exhausting.

All he wanted was to go home.

Then...

Out of the corner of his eye...

He noticed a familiar splash of soft blue.

His footsteps slowed.

"...Felix?"

The omega was kneeling alone on the lawn.

Looking around in tiny confused circles.

He reached toward empty patches of grass, frowned, moved a little farther, searched again...

...then walked directly into a bench.

Dante stared.

"..."

A sigh escaped him before he could stop it.

"How does he survive on his own?"

Yet...

The sight was strangely...

Cute.

Not because Felix was clumsy.

But because everything about him was so gentle.

Even the way he searched was careful, as if he were afraid of hurting the grass.

Dante changed direction without thinking.

Felix's POV

Someone stopped nearby.

Felix heard footsteps.

Strong.

Steady.

He looked up...

But all he saw was a tall blurry figure.

"...Um..."

His fingers tightened nervously.

"Excuse me..."

"...Have you seen a pair of glasses?"

His voice was soft enough that the wind nearly carried it away.

The figure crouched beside him.

"What do they look like?"

Felix smiled a little.

"Round... silver frame."

"I dropped them."

"I can't really..."

He hesitated, embarrassed.

"...see without them."

Dante blinked.

"You can't?"

Felix shook his head.

"Everything is blurry."

"Very blurry."

"So... I'm sorry if I'm looking in the wrong place."

Dante looked at the omega.

Then back at the grass.

Then at Felix again.

"...You were searching blind."

Felix nodded sheepishly.

"I didn't want to bother anyone."

That answer made Dante pinch the bridge of his nose.

"Of course he didn't."

Without another word...

Dante set down his gym bag.

Then he knelt beside Felix.

"I'll help."

"Oh..."

"You don't have to."

"I'm already here."

Felix smiled shyly.

"...Thank you."

For the next several minutes...

The famous boxing champion and the quiet omega searched the grass together.

Students passing by slowed in disbelief.

"Is that Dante?"

"He's... looking for something?"

"With Felix?"

"Since when does he kneel in the grass for anyone?"

Dante ignored every stare.

His attention remained on the ground.

Meanwhile...

Felix's poor eyesight caused him to mistake almost everything.

"Oh!"

He reached excitedly toward something shiny.

"My glasses—"

He picked it up.

"..."

It was a soda can tab.

"...Never mind."

A few minutes later—

"There!"

Felix hurried toward another glimmer.

It turned out to be a coin.

"Oh..."

Another disappointed little smile.

Dante watched him silently.

The omega never complained.

Never got frustrated.

Every mistake was met with the same tiny, embarrassed smile.

As though apologizing to the world for existing.

Then...

Dante spotted something beneath a patch of clover.

A silver frame.

"...Found them."

Felix immediately looked toward his voice.

"...Really?"

Dante carefully picked up the glasses.

One lens was smudged with dirt.

He took a clean handkerchief from his pocket and gently wiped both lenses before inspecting them.

"...No scratches."

Only then did he stand in front of Felix.

"Here."

Felix reached forward.

His hand missed completely.

Instead of taking the glasses...

His fingers accidentally wrapped around Dante's wrist.

Felix froze.

"...!"

"S-Sorry!"

He quickly let go, cheeks turning bright pink.

"I..."

"I can't see where your hand is..."

For a second, Dante simply looked at the flustered omega.

Then, instead of placing the glasses in his hand...

He quietly stepped closer.

"Hold still."

Felix obediently stopped moving.

With surprising gentleness, Dante lifted the glasses and carefully settled them onto Felix's face, making sure they rested comfortably on the bridge of his nose. His fingers briefly brushed a few strands of soft blond hair away before adjusting the frames.

"There."

The world snapped back into focus.

Felix blinked several times.

The blurry shapes became trees.

Flowers.

Students.

And finally...

Dante.

Standing only a step away, looking down at him with the same calm expression as always.

"...I can see you now," Felix murmured.

His relieved smile appeared so suddenly and so sincerely that it caught Dante off guard.

It wasn't dazzling or flirtatious.

It was simply grateful.

Warm.

Like the first sunlight after days of rain.

"...Thank you."

Dante looked away for a moment, clearing his throat.

"...Don't lose them again."

Felix nodded earnestly.

"I'll try."

He took two careful steps.

Then his foot caught on the strap of his own bag.

"Wah—"

Before he could stumble, a strong hand caught his elbow, steadying him.

They both froze.

Felix's face turned scarlet.

"...I almost fell."

"I noticed."

Another tiny, embarrassed laugh escaped Felix.

"...Today really isn't my day."

For the first time, the corner of Dante's mouth lifted into the faintest hint of a smile.

"...No," he said quietly.

"It really isn't."

...ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ...
