The impossible assignment

"Come in."

His voice was cold and powerful.

Syryn slowly opened the door and stepped inside.

The CEO's office was exactly what she expected—large, elegant, and intimidating.

Dweyn stood behind his desk, his eyes immediately turning toward her.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

Then his voice broke the silence.

"Do you always make this kind of first impression?"

Syryn felt the pressure in his words.

She lowered her gaze and took a small breath.

"I'm really sorry, sir. It was an accident."

She bowed politely.

"I didn't mean to spill it on you."

The room became quiet.

But Dweyn's expression did not change.

Suddenly—

Bang.

His hand hit the desk.

Syryn flinched.

"Sorry doesn't remove the stain."

His voice was sharp.

Most people would have immediately apologized again.

Most people would have stayed silent.

But Syryn looked up.

She was nervous, but she knew she had to speak.

"You're right..."

She paused.

"But yelling won't remove it either."

Silence filled the office.

Dweyn stared at her.

No employee had ever talked back to him.

Everyone who worked under him knew one thing—

Dweyn Ashmere was not someone you challenged.

But this woman standing in front of him was different.

She was afraid, yet she still told him the truth.

His eyes narrowed.

"One more mistake..."

He stepped closer.

"And you're out."

Syryn swallowed nervously.

She knew her position was at risk.

But instead of showing fear, she forced a small smile.

"I won't give you that chance, Mr. Ashmere."

With those words,

Someone had dared to stand against him.

And somehow...

It caught his attention.

Narrator:

"For the first time... someone had dared to stand up to the Terror CEO."

Dweyn Ashmere stared at Syryn after her unexpected reply.

The office became completely silent.

No one had ever dared to speak to him that way.

Most employees lowered their heads whenever he showed his anger. They apologized, accepted their mistakes, and walked away.

But Syryn...

She had looked him straight in the eyes.

And she had answered him.

"You seem confident for someone on her first day."

Dweyn's cold voice broke the silence.

Syryn took a breath before responding.

"I just don't run away from my mistakes, sir."

Her words were simple, but they carried determination.

Dweyn watched her carefully, as if trying to understand what kind of person she was.

Then, without another word, he walked toward the cabinet near his desk.

He opened it and pulled out a thick stack of files.

The pile was so large that Syryn's eyes widened.

A second later—

THUD.

The files landed heavily on the desk.

Dweyn picked up the stack and pushed it toward her.

"From this moment on..."

He paused.

"You're my executive secretary."

Syryn froze.

She stared at the mountain of paperwork, then slowly looked back at him.

"...Your secretary?"

Dweyn crossed his arms.

His expression remained cold.

"If you can't survive working beside me..."

His eyes narrowed.

"Resign."

He pointed toward the files.

"Now finish these before the day ends."

Syryn looked at the endless documents in front of her.

It was clearly not a normal workload.

It was a challenge.

Maybe even a test.

She took a deep breath.

"... Yes, sir."

Without complaining, she picked up the heavy files and walked out of the office.

Outside, the employees immediately noticed her.

Their eyes widened when they saw the documents in her arms.

"Wait... is that what I think it is?"

"He made her his secretary?"

"She's doomed..."
