Chapter 2 — Seatmates

I was rethinking/regretting my life decisions, in easy sentence I was in my own world.

When suddenly someone threw a bag at the seat next to me.

First, I was processing the situation when suddenly our teacher also came.

"Every one take out your notebooks"the teacher said in a strict tone.

I know you're probably thinking that why he didn't introduce you, or why he didn't say good morning or blah blah blah.

But since I don't want to be in a popular or big school, My mom decided to choose a local, small one, near my house.

But unfortunately, we couldn't find any school near our house.

So, this high school is a little far, but I don't want my mom to worry about me, so I didn't complain her, I can manage it myself.

Anyway back to the class.

Unfortunately the first is math I hate the most.

He was teaching us, when a student came out of nowhere.

"Noah, you're again late" the math teacher said in a strict tone.

"So what?" Noah said.

"You brat" "Go to your seat" the teacher said.

"Whatever"came from Noah's mouth.

I got a feeling that he's going to sit next to me.

and he confirmed. He sat next to me.

Well, of we talk about his visuals, he looks kinda ethereal, but about personality after his Convo with the teacher, In my opinion he's like that spoiled rich kid.

Anyway, he didn't even try to talk to me which I kind of liked.

*after few hours*

*lunch break*

The moment the bell rang, the whole class became noisy.

Some students immediately gathered around their friends while others rushed out of the classroom as if they had been waiting their entire lives for lunch break.

As for me?

I stayed exactly where I was.

Making new friends on the first day wasn't really my thing. Besides, I was already tired from waking up early.

I took out the lunch box my mom had packed for me this morning. She woke up earlier than usual just because it was my first day, so I couldn't let her hard work go to waste.

Just as I was about to take my first bite, someone suddenly sat on my desk.

I slowly looked up only to see Noah.

Why is he here?

"You always stare at people this much?" he asked while looking at me.

"No? I was wondering why you're sitting on my desk," I replied.

"Oh."

That was it. No explanation. Just an "Oh."

What kind of answer is that?

He then looked at my lunch box before asking, "You made that?"

"My mom did."

"Looks good."

I was honestly surprised. I thought he would say something rude judging from his personality.

Before I could reply, one of his friends came running into our class.

"Noah! We're waiting for you!" he shouted.

He looked at me once before standing up. "See you around."

Wait... see me around?

We literally sit next to each other.

I ignored his weird comment and finally started eating my lunch peacefully.

Or at least, that's what I thought.

A few girls suddenly entered our classroom and immediately started whispering while looking at Noah's empty seat.

"Do you think Noah likes someone?"

"I don't know! But he's so handsome."

"I heard he's rich too!"

I quietly listened while pretending I wasn't interested at all.

Okay, maybe I was a little curious.

Apparently, Noah is one of the most popular students in our grade despite his horrible attitude.

Makes sense, I guess. Pretty privilege exists for a reason.

The lunch break finally ended, and everyone returned to their seats.

Noah walked into the classroom with his usual expressionless face and sat beside me.

"You talk a lot during lunch," he suddenly said.

I almost choked on my water.

"Excuse me?"

"You were listening to those girls gossiping."

"I wasn't!"

"You were."

"..."

Okay, maybe I was.

The corners of his lips lifted slightly as if he was trying not to laugh.

Wait a minute.

Did this guy just smile?

Before I could think about it any further, our English teacher entered the classroom.

"Good afternoon, everyone. Since we have a new student today, let's have a small activity."

Please don't make us introduce ourselves.

"Pair up with the person sitting beside you and prepare a presentation about each other."

Never mind. That's even worse.

I slowly turned my head toward Noah.

He looked at me before sighing dramatically.

"Looks like we're stuck with each other," he said.

And just like that, my peaceful first day of high school was officially over.
