Chapter Two:The king's last Morning

‎Morning arrived with an uneasy stillness.

‎The city bustled as it always did.

‎Cars crowded the highways.

‎Coffee shops filled with office workers.

‎News anchors smiled into their cameras as though it were an ordinary day.

‎But somewhere...

‎Fate had already made its decision.

‎Inside Kingsley Global Headquarters, Victor Kingsley stood alone in the office.

‎He had barely sleep.

‎He heard a knock on the Door.

‎"Come in."

‎Lisa entered carrying a tray with coffee and a neatly arranged schedule.

‎"Good morning, sir."

‎Victor nodded.

‎"Thank you, Lisa."

‎She placed the coffee on his desk.

‎"You have the board meeting at ten."

‎"The investors' conference at noon."

‎"And dinner with the minister at seven."

‎Victor glanced at the schedule.

‎Then quietly pushed it aside.

‎"Cancel dinner."

‎Lisa looked surprised.

‎"Sir?"

‎"I'm not in the mood."

‎She hesitated before nodding.

‎"Very well."

‎As she turned to leave, Victor spoke again.

‎"Lisa."

‎She stopped.

‎"Yes, sir?"

‎"If anything ever happens to me..."

‎She blinked in confusion.

‎"I don't understand."

‎Victor gave a faint smile.

‎"Neither do I."

‎"You may go."

‎Lisa left with an uneasy feeling she couldn't explain.

‎...

‎At exactly nine o'clock...

‎Ethan arrived.

‎He walked into his father's office carrying two cups of coffee.

‎"I figured you'd already be working."

‎Victor looked up and smiled.

‎"You know me too well."

‎Ethan handed him one of the cups.

‎"You've looked serious since the gala."

‎Victor remained silent.

‎Ethan sat opposite him.

‎"Did something happen?"

‎For several moments...

‎Victor simply stared out the window.

‎Finally, he spoke.

‎"Ethan..."

‎"Have you ever wondered why I built this company?"

‎Ethan smiled.

‎"I assumed it was because you're addicted to work."

‎Victor laughed quietly.

‎"Maybe."

‎"But there was another reason."

‎"What was it?"

‎Victor's smile slowly faded.

‎"To give you a future better than my past."

‎Ethan frowned.

‎"your past?"

‎Before Ethan could ask more questions...

‎A sharp pain suddenly shot through Victor's chest.

‎His hand flew to his heart.

‎The coffee cup slipped from his fingers.

‎It shattered on the polished floor.

‎"Dad?"

‎Victor tried to stand.

‎Instead...

‎He stumbled.

‎Ethan was beside him instantly.

‎"Dad!"

‎Victor struggled to breathe.

‎His face had turned pale.

‎"Ethan..."

‎His voice was weak.

‎"So... much..."

‎"...I never..."

‎Those were the only words he managed before collapsing.

‎"No!"

‎Ethan caught him before he hit the floor.

‎"Somebody help!"

‎The office doors burst open.

‎Lisa rushed in, followed by security officers.

‎"Call an ambulance!" Ethan shouted.

‎"Now!"

‎Within seconds, the office became a blur of panic.

‎Doctors from the company's medical unit arrived first.

‎They immediately began CPR.

‎Ethan stood frozen.

‎His hands trembled.

‎He had never seen his father like this.

‎Not once.

‎The paramedics arrived minutes later.

‎They worked desperately.

‎One minute.

‎Two.

‎Five.

‎The room fell silent.

‎The lead paramedic slowly removed his gloves.

‎He looked at Ethan with quiet sympathy.

‎"I'm sorry."

‎"We did everything we could."

‎Ethan stared at him.

‎Unable to understand.

‎Unable to breathe.

‎Unable to accept the words.

‎His father...

‎Victor Kingsley...

‎Was gone......

‎The news spread across the city before noon.

‎Victor Kingsley, Chairman of Kingsley Global, Dies of a Heart Attack.

‎Television stations interrupted their regular programming.

‎Business reporters gathered outside Kingsley Global Headquarters.

‎Employees stood in small groups, speaking in hushed voices.

‎Some cried openly.

‎Others simply stared at the towering glass building, unable to believe the man who had built it was gone.

‎Inside the executive boardroom...

‎Silence filled the air.

‎The twelve directors of Kingsley Global sat around the long mahogany table.

‎Every seat was occupied except one.

‎Victor's.

‎At the head of the table sat Ethan.

‎He hadn't changed out of the suit he'd worn that morning.

‎His eyes were red from hours without sleep.

‎His usually neat hair had become slightly untidy.

‎For the first time in his life...

‎He looked his age.

‎Twenty-eight.

‎A man who had just lost his father.

‎The company's legal adviser cleared his throat.

‎"Mr. Kingsley..."

‎"I'm deeply sorry for your loss."

‎Several board members nodded in agreement.

‎"Our condolences."

‎Ethan managed a small nod.

‎"Thank you."

‎The chairman of the board slowly opened a thick folder.

‎"According to Mr. Victor Kingsley's final succession plan..."

‎"...effective immediately..."

‎"...Mr. Ethan Kingsley becomes Chief Executive Officer of Kingsley Global."

‎The room fell silent once more.

‎Ethan had known this moment would come someday.

‎He simply hadn't imagined it would arrive like this.

‎The chairman slid several documents across the table.

‎"They require your signature."

‎Ethan looked down at the papers.

‎His eyes blurred.

‎Only yesterday...

‎His father had placed similar documents before him.

‎Now...

‎He was signing them alone.

‎He picked up Victor's silver fountain pen.

‎The same pen his father had used for years.

‎His hand shook slightly as he signed his name.

‎Ethan Kingsley.

‎Chief Executive Officer.

‎The ink had barely dried when one of the directors spoke.

‎"Congratulations."

‎The word sounded wrong.

‎How could anyone congratulate a man on the day he buried his father?

‎Ethan forced a polite smile.

‎"Thank you."

‎Inside...

‎He felt nothing.

‎...

‎Across the city...

‎The Black Vipers' headquarters remained unusually quiet.

‎Marcus hurried down the corridor with a newspaper folded under his arm.

‎He found Amara in the training hall.

‎She stood before a wooden practice dummy.

‎Each strike landed with controlled precision.

‎Punch.

‎Elbow.

‎Kick.

‎The dummy rocked violently.

‎Marcus waited until she finished.

‎"Amara."

‎She lowered her fists.

‎"What is it?"

‎Without speaking, Marcus handed her the newspaper.

‎The headline covered almost the entire front page.

‎BUSINESS TYCOON VICTOR KINGSLEY DIES OF HEART ATTACK

‎Amara stared at the words.

‎For a long moment...

‎She said nothing.

‎Marcus studied her expression.

‎"You don't look happy."

‎She slowly folded the newspaper.

‎"I'm not."

‎"You wanted revenge."

‎"I wanted answers.

‎"I wanted him to say it to my face why he killed my dad"

‎She walked toward the large windows overlooking the courtyard.

‎"The man I believed killed my father..."

‎"...is dead."

‎Marcus nodded.

‎"Does that change anything?"

‎Amara remained silent.

‎Finally, she answered.

‎"It changes everything."

‎She turned back toward him.

‎"If Victor is dead..."

‎"Then the truth died with him."

‎Marcus shook his head.

‎Dominic entered the room.

‎His expression was serious.

‎"The council has arrived."

‎Amara frowned.

‎"The council?"

‎Dominic nodded.

‎"They've come to discuss our next move."

‎...

‎Deep beneath the headquarters...

‎A circular chamber stretched out beneath the old building.

‎A large round table stood at its center.

‎Around it sat the senior leaders of the Black Vipers.

‎Some had served beside Olis for over twenty years.

‎Others commanded operations across different regions.

‎Every eye turned toward Amara as she entered.

‎The room fell silent.

‎She walked calmly to the empty chair at the head of the table.

‎Her father's chair.

‎She paused for only a second.

‎Then sat down.

‎One of the older commanders spoke first.

‎"Our enemy is dead."

‎Another nodded.

‎"Then the war is over."

‎A third slammed his fist on the table.

‎"No."

‎"His son lives."

‎Several voices rose at once.

‎"We should strike now."

‎"Kingsley Global is vulnerable."

‎"We finish what Boss Olis started."

‎The room erupted into arguments.

‎Amara listened quietly.

‎She allowed every commander to speak.

‎Only when the noise became overwhelming did she raise one hand.

‎Silence.

‎Instantly.

‎Every voice disappeared.

‎She looked around the table.

‎"Death is too easy.

‎Victor escaped justice.

‎His son won't.

‎Ethan Kingsley will watch his empire crumble piece by piece...

‎just as I watched my world fall apart.

‎And when he has nothing left.

‎I will make him pay with his life."

‎Several commanders exchanged glances.

‎The room grew still.

‎Marcus nodded quietly.

‎Dominic smiled with approval.

‎Amara leaned forward.

‎One by one...

‎The commanders nodded.

‎They understood.

‎Hidden behind layers of lies...

‎Someone had just lost the greatest advantage they possessed.
