An Alpha's Favorite Mistake

An Alpha's Favorite Mistake

Prologue

Before I tell you about him, you need to know about me—and the world I live in. Only then will you understand.

An Alpha.

Everyone knows what an Alpha is. People believe Alphas have it all. Compared to Betas and Omegas, an Alpha seems to possess every advantage.

But those advantages come with expectations.

Superior Poverty, however, is something that can humble even an Alpha to desperation.

I was one. An Alpha born to a mother who worked tirelessly just to earn enough for us to survive, and a father whose presence only made everything worse.

If I could choose...

I wouldn't even want to be born.

I wasn't the class topper.Not because I didn't want to be.I tried.I really did.

But my mind was always drawn to literature, history, philosophy—subjects that made me think rather than calculate.

I wanted to become an artist....

I preferred abstract ideas over numbers and formulas. Still, I forced myself to try because my mother always reminded me that artists had no future unless they were exceptionally talented. And my own mother didn't believe I was.And because I was an Alpha, she believed my first responsibility was prosperity.

Security came before happiness.

Duty came before passion.

Everyone depends on an Alpha.

Families depend on Alphas.

Society depends on Alphas.

If I could choose, I wouldn't want to be an Alpha.I'd rather be a Beta.Never an Omega.A weak Alpha is judged more harshly than an infertile Omega. At least an Omega is allowed to ask for help.Though that dependence often turns them into easy prey. They're allowed to show emotion.Yet those same emotions are later used against them."Omegas can't hold positions of power.""They're too emotional."Their kindness becomes weakness.Their vulnerability becomes an excuse to chain them.

Alphas are prisoners of expectation.Omegas are prisoners of instinct.

And Betas...

Compared to all of this,

Betas might be the only ones who are truly free.

That was the world I was born into.

A world where everyone envied the Alpha...

...until they became one.

And that was before he entered my life.

Because my greatest mistake wasn't being born an Alpha.

It was becoming an Alpha's favorite mistake.

...****************...

I was born with a crown I never asked for,

A title carved into my skin.

They called me powerful,

but never asked how heavy it had been.

Another disaster wearing a beautiful form.

But you looked at me

like I was something worth breaking for.

Like my weakness was a treasure,

like my pain was something you wanted more.

Maybe my greatest sin

wasn't being born an Alpha.

Maybe it wasn't wanting freedom.

Maybe my greatest mistake...

Was letting an Alpha

become the reason I wanted to stay.

...****************...

So tell me...

When an Alpha falls in love with another Alpha, who is the predator?

Who is the prey?

Or are they simply two beasts, tearing each other apart, calling it devotion?

Perhaps that is why our story was doomed from the beginning.

It was never a love story.

It was a slow, beautiful disaster, where possession masqueraded as affection, jealousy dressed itself as protection, and every "I love you" was another way of saying,

"You'll never belong to anyone else."
