The atmosphere inside the Principal's office was unbearably tense.
Saru sat quietly on the chair, her head lowered.
She didn't say a single word.
Her father stood beside her, confused and worried.
He had never been called to her school before.
The Principal placed a file on the table and looked at him.
"Mr. Sharma..."
"I wish I had called you much earlier."
Her father frowned.
"What happened?"
The Principal took a deep breath.
"This isn't just about today's incident."
"It has been happening for months."
He slowly pushed several photographs across the table.
One showed Saru's lunch covered in water.
Another showed her school bag thrown into the dustbin.
There were pictures of cruel messages written on her desk.
Even a photo of the blackboard that read—
WELCOME TO HELL, SARU.
Her father's face slowly turned pale.
His hands began to tremble.
"What..."
"What is all this?"
The Principal looked directly into his eyes.
"Your daughter has been bullied every single day."
"And she never complained."
"Not once."
His heart sank.
He turned toward Saru.
She still hadn't looked at him.
The Principal continued.
"Today..."
"They insulted her late mother."
"They kept provoking her until she finally lost control."
"What happened today wasn't the beginning."
"It was the result of months of silent suffering."
Silence filled the room.
For the first time...
Mr. Sharma realized...
His daughter hadn't become weak.
She had been fighting alone.
All this time.
After completing the paperwork...
Father and daughter walked toward the parking lot.
Neither of them spoke.
The drive home felt endless.
The only sound inside the car was the rain hitting the windows.
Saru kept looking outside.
She didn't know what to say.
She expected her father to scold her.
To blame her.
To ask why she had embarrassed him.
Instead...
He remained completely silent.
That night...
Saru quietly entered her room.
She sat on the floor beside her bed.
Her eyes were swollen from holding back tears.
A soft knock echoed through the room.
"Dad?"
He slowly entered.
For the first time in years...
He sat beside his daughter.
He didn't look at her immediately.
It seemed as though he was searching for the right words.
Finally...
He spoke.
"Saru..."
"I'm sorry."
She looked at him in surprise.
"I should have been there."
"I thought working harder would give you a better future."
"But while I was chasing success..."
"I failed the person who needed me the most."
A tear rolled down his cheek.
"I wasn't just absent..."
"I was a terrible father."
Saru's eyes filled with tears.
Her father took an old photograph from his wallet.
It was a family picture.
Saru.
Her mother.
And him.
Standing under beautiful cherry blossom trees.
"You remember this?"
Saru gently shook her head.
"You were only five."
"We were in South Korea."
"Your mother loved that country."
He smiled sadly.
"She used to tell me..."
"Whenever life becomes too heavy... start again where your heart feels light."
He took a deep breath.
"My company has been asking me to accept a transfer to South Korea."
"I kept refusing."
"Because I didn't want to leave the memories your mother left behind."
He looked into Saru's eyes.
"But today..."
"I realized something."
"Memories cannot heal us..."
"If they keep hurting us."
He gently held her hand.
"So..."
"Let's leave."
"Let's go back to South Korea."
"A new school."
"A new home."
"A new beginning."
"And this time..."
"I promise..."
"I'll walk beside you."
"I won't let you fight alone anymore."
Saru could no longer hold back.
Years of pain...
Loneliness...
Silence...
Everything shattered.
She burst into tears.
Without saying a word...
She hugged her father tightly.
He wrapped his arms around her.
"I'm sorry..."
He whispered.
"Can you forgive me?"
For a few seconds...
Neither of them spoke.
Then...
Saru softly nodded.
"I'll try..."
Outside...
The rain slowly stopped.
For the first time in years...
A tiny ray of sunlight broke through the clouds.
The next morning...
A passport lay on the dining table.
Beside it...
Two flight tickets.
Destination: Seoul, South Korea.
Saru picked them up.
She took one last look around the house.
Her new journey...
Was finally about to begin.
