"Okay," Keir said with a helpless sigh. "I promise."
After that conversation, they returned to their work.
True to his word, Keir stopped avoiding Elaine. Although he remained busy, he no longer kept his distance from her whenever their paths crossed.
Before leaving his office, however, Elaine made one request.
"Please don't let anyone know that we're connected."
She didn't want the other employees to find out about their relationship with each other. Especially now that she knew the truth—that she wasn't a Hasford by birth.
For now, it was a secret she intended to keep to herself until she was ready to face it.
The hours passed quickly until it was already six o'clock in the evening.
By then, almost all of the employees had gone home.
Elaine, however, remained at her desk, her eyes fixed on the computer screen as she finished the last of her work for the day.
Elaine jumped in surprise when Keir suddenly spoke from behind her.

Elaine had never liked eating in her work clothes, so changing before dinner had always been part of her routine.
A few minutes later, Elaine came downstairs wearing a simple white T-shirt and a pair of shorts.
When she entered the dining room, Keir was already seated at the table.
He hadn't started eating yet.
It seemed he had been waiting for her so they could have dinner together.
Keir only started eating when Elaine arrived. A short while later, Elaine drank some water, but due to her clumsiness, she dropped the glass, causing water to soak the chest area of her T-shirt.
"Are you Alright." Keir's worried question
