chapter 4

Chapter 4: The Unseen Boundary

Min-jae’s eyes remained glued to the front row, tracking the subtle curve of Ji-woo’s neck as the young heir chatted with his new friends. The predatory curiosity in the Alpha's gaze was unmistakable.

"Hey," Do-hyun said, his voice dropping an octave. "Stop looking at him. You’re going to burn a hole right through his face."

Do-hyun forced a small, easy smile onto his lips, making it look like a harmless joke between two new classmates. But underneath that casual mask, his internal Alpha was violently baring its teeth. The territorial urge to rip Min-jae away from the back row was screaming in his mind.

Min-jae blinked, startled, and then let out a loud, amused laugh. "Wow, man. First day of class and you’re already acting like my opponent? You really don't vibe like a Beta at all."

Before the tension could escalate, the heavy door at the front of the hall swung open. A middle-aged professor stepped up to the podium, dropping a thick stack of papers onto the desk.

"Hello, students. Welcome to your first day of University," the professor announced, his voice echoing through the microphone.

As the lecture started, Min-jae finally turned his attention to his notebook, but Do-hyun’s eyes never left the middle row. He watched the back of Ji-woo’s head. Ji-woo was sitting perfectly straight, taking neat, organized notes and absorbing every word from the professor.

‘I guess he’s actually good at studying,’ Do-hyun thought, a faint trace of respect softening his rigid posture. ‘For a spoiled rich kid, he actually focuses.’

The moment the professor dismissed the class, the room erupted into a flurry of shuffling papers and chatting students. Ji-woo immediately packed his luxury leather bag and began walking toward the exit alongside Sora and the other Omega boy.

Do-hyun smoothly packed his things and intercepted them near the doorway. "Ji-woo," he called out quietly. "Where are you going?"

Ji-woo stopped in his tracks, a look of pure irritation crossing his handsome face. He turned around and glared at Do-hyun, keeping his voice low so his new friends wouldn't hear. "Didn't I explicitly tell you? We are not going to show anyone that you are my bodyguard."

"But..." Do-hyun began, his eyes darting toward the crowded, chaotic hallway outside full of un-suppressed Alphas.

"Stop," Ji-woo interrupted sharply. "Just stay close enough to keep an eye on other people. Don't get right next to me. Okay?"

Do-hyun let out a quiet, defeated sigh, his chest tightening with irritation. "Okay."

Ji-woo turned on his heel and walked out, his laughter echoing down the corridor as he caught up with his group. But inside, Ji-woo’s mind was racing with annoyance. ‘What does he think he is doing?’ Ji-woo thought bitterly, gripping his bag strap tighter. ‘I don't think he should follow me literally everywhere. I need some space! I know he is here for my safety, but I want to enjoy my first day of college like I always dreamed of.’

Back in the empty classroom, Do-hyun adjusted his backpack strap, his jaw clenched as he watched the empty doorway.

‘He is so arrogant for an Omega,’ Do-hyun thought, a bitter taste in his mouth. ‘Are all wealthy Omegas like this? Completely blind to the reality of the world?’

He shook his head, forcing his raging Alpha instincts back into submission. ‘Ah, forget it. Leave it. I don't care about his attitude. I just need to do my job, get paid, and keep him alive.’
