Daisy finally reached home.
Daisy: “Mom, I’m home!”
She quickly ran upstairs, changed into something comfortable, grabbed her bag, and rushed back toward the front door.
Daisy: “I’m heading to the café! Barren’s been waiting for me.”
Mom: “At least eat something first. You just got home.”
Daisy: “I’ll eat with Barren while we study, Mom!”
Daisy kissed her mother on the cheek before hurrying out.
⸻
When Daisy arrived at the café, she saw Barren already sitting at their usual table.
Wait… she’s already here?
Why didn’t she call or text me?
Curious, Daisy pulled out her phone.
Her eyes widened.
5 Missed Calls.
12 Messages.
Daisy (thinking): I’m dead… She’s definitely going to lecture me today.
She walked over with an awkward smile.
Daisy: “I’m so sorry! I didn’t see your calls or messages. My phone was on silent.”
Barren folded her arms and glared at her.
Barren: “I’ve been waiting forever, and now you finally decide to show up?”
Daisy clasped her hands together dramatically.
Daisy: “Please don’t be mad! I’ll treat you to ice cream after we’re done studying. Deal?”
Barren couldn’t hold back her smile.
Barren: “You’re impossible. I can’t stay mad at you.”
She sighed with a laugh.
Barren: “Come on. Let’s study.”
Daisy: “Yes, buddy!”
⸻
After finishing their study session, the two girls headed to their favorite ice cream shop.
Each of them ordered their favorite flavor, chatting happily as they walked home together.
After a moment, Daisy remembered something.
She shared everything with Barren, so of course she had to tell her.
Daisy: “You know what happened today? After I finished my class duty, I met Noah near the school ground.”
Barren: “Really?”
Daisy: “He was waiting there because he had my school ID card. He wanted to return it.”
Barren looked confused.
Barren: “How did your ID card end up with him?”
Daisy: “Remember when I went back to get my wallet? I accidentally bumped into him. Everything fell out of my wallet, so my ID must’ve ended up with him.”
Barren: “Oh…”
She raised an eyebrow.
Barren: “But why did he wait for you? He could’ve just returned it in class.”
Daisy immediately shook her head.
Daisy: “Exactly! That’s what I’ve been wondering too. And don’t you dare say anything else, or I’ll start getting my hopes up!”
Barren laughed.
Barren: “You’re such a hopeless dreamer.”
The two burst into laughter.
Soon, they reached the street where they had to go their separate ways.
Daisy: “See you tomorrow! Bye, buddy!”
Barren: “See you. And don’t stay up all night reading comics again, or the teacher will scold you for being late.”
Daisy: “No promises!”
They waved goodbye and headed home.
⸻
As soon as Daisy reached her room, she picked up her favorite comic book.
One chapter became two.
Two became five.
Before she realized it, she had fallen asleep with the comic still in her hands.
⸻
The next morning…
Daisy’s eyes flew open.
Daisy: “WHAT?! I’M LATE!”
She hurriedly got dressed, grabbed her school bag, and sprinted toward the bus stop.
Just as she arrived, the school bus was about to leave.
Luckily, the driver stopped long enough for her to climb aboard.
The bus was packed with students.
Looking around for a place to stand, Daisy suddenly froze.
Noah.
He was sitting by the window.
Why does he have to be here…?
Before she could think any further—
SCREECH!
The driver slammed on the brakes.
Caught off guard, Daisy lost her balance.
She fell straight toward Noah.
For one brief, unexpected moment…
Her lips accidentally brushed against his.
Silence.
Both of them froze in complete shock.
Daisy’s eyes widened.
Noah looked just as stunned.
Realizing what had happened, Daisy immediately pulled away.
Her face turned bright red.
Daisy: “I-I’m so sorry!”
As soon as the bus reached the next stop, she rushed off without looking back.
Standing on the side of the road, she covered her burning face.
Daisy (thinking): What just happened?!
Did I seriously… kiss my classmate?
How am I supposed to face Noah now?
Daisy: “Aaaahhh! Why does this always happen to me?!”
