The next morning, Sarah arrived at Wilson Group at exactly eight o'clock.
After several days of working in the executive office, she was beginning to understand the rhythm of the company. The mornings were always busy. Employees rushed between meetings, phones constantly rang, and assistants carried stacks of documents from one department to another.
Sarah was slowly becoming comfortable with the environment.
She placed her bag beside her desk and opened her laptop.
"Good morning, Sarah."
She looked up and smiled.
"Good morning, Emma."
Emma placed several documents on Sarah's desk.
"These need to be delivered to the finance department. After that, Mr. Wilson has a meeting at ten."
Sarah nodded.
"I'll take care of them."
Before she could stand, she noticed a young employee struggling with a large stack of folders near the hallway.
The folders suddenly slipped from his hands.
Thud!
Documents scattered across the floor.
"Oh no..."
The young man immediately knelt down.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."
Sarah quickly stood and helped him collect the papers.
"It's okay. Don't worry."
The employee looked embarrassed.
"I was supposed to deliver these to the finance department, but I accidentally mixed everything together."
Sarah looked at the documents.
"Don't panic. We can sort them."
"You don't have to help me."
"It's fine."
She sat beside him and began arranging the papers according to their department labels.
The employee looked surprised.
"Thank you."
Sarah smiled.
"Everyone makes mistakes."
After several minutes, everything was organized.
The young employee stood up.
"I'm Daniel. I'm new here."
"Nice to meet you, Daniel. I'm Sarah."
"You're the new intern in the CEO's office, right?"
Sarah nodded.
Daniel looked nervous.
"I heard Mr. Wilson is very strict."
Sarah laughed softly.
"He is."
Daniel smiled for the first time.
"Thank you for helping me."
"You're welcome."
Neither of them noticed that someone was standing at the end of the hallway.
Alex had witnessed everything.
He had been walking toward the conference room when he saw Sarah sitting on the floor helping a junior employee.
He stopped for a moment.
Most people in the company were always trying to impress him.
Sarah wasn't.
She had no reason to help Daniel.
She simply saw someone struggling and decided to help.
Alex quietly continued walking.
But his thoughts remained with her.
Later that morning, Sarah entered the conference room.
Alex and several executives were already there.
She placed the documents on the table.
"Mr. Wilson, these are the updated financial reports."
Alex took them.
"Thank you."
Sarah nodded and stepped aside.
The meeting began.
For nearly an hour, everyone discussed the company's upcoming project.
When the meeting ended, Alex remained behind.
"Sarah."
She stopped.
"Yes, sir?"
"Come here."
Sarah approached his desk.
Alex handed her a document.
"Check this contract."
She looked at it.
"Is there a problem?"
"I want another opinion."
Sarah blinked.
"My opinion?"
"Yes."
She carefully read through the contract.
After several minutes, she noticed a particular clause.
"This section could cause a problem."
Alex looked at her.
"Why?"
"The partner company can change the service fee after six months. There's no maximum percentage stated."
Alex took the document from her.
He read the clause again.
"You noticed it."
Sarah nodded.
"I think the contract should be revised."
Alex leaned back in his chair.
"You're becoming useful."
Sarah smiled.
"Thank you... I think."
Alex's lips almost curved into a smile.
"That was a compliment."
"I'll accept it, then."
For a moment, the atmosphere between them felt strangely comfortable.
Neither spoke.
Then Emma knocked on the door.
"Mr. Wilson, your next meeting is ready."
Alex nodded.
"Thank you."
Sarah turned toward the door.
"Sarah."
She looked back.
"Yes?"
"Good work today."
She smiled.
"Thank you, Mr. Wilson."
She left the office.
Alex watched the door close.
Something about her was different.
She didn't try to impress him.
She didn't care about his position.
She treated everyone the same way.
And for the first time in a long time, Alex found himself curious about someone beyond their professional abilities.
That evening, Alex met Neo and Lucas at a quiet restaurant.
Lucas immediately noticed that Alex seemed distracted.
"You've been quiet all evening."
"I'm tired."
Neo raised an eyebrow.
"That's not the reason."
Alex looked at him.
"What do you mean?"
"You keep checking your phone."
Lucas grinned.
"Is our CEO waiting for someone's message?"
Alex placed his phone on the table.
"No."
Lucas laughed.
"Then why are you smiling?"
Alex immediately stopped smiling.
"I wasn't."
Neo and Lucas looked at each other.
Then both burst out laughing.
Alex shook his head.
"You two are impossible."
Lucas leaned back.
"Is it the new intern?"
Alex's expression became serious.
"Don't start."
"We didn't say anything."
"You were about to."
Neo smiled.
"You're paying attention to her."
Alex was silent.
After a moment, he finally answered.
"She's hardworking."
Lucas grinned.
"That's all?"
"That's all."
But even Alex knew he wasn't being completely honest.
Meanwhile, at the Carter Mansion, Sarah sat at the dinner table with her family.
Erin noticed her smile.
"You seem happy today."
Sarah looked surprised.
"Do I?"
"Yes."
Leo laughed.
"Something happened at work?"
Sarah shook her head.
"Nothing special. I just helped someone today."
Liam smiled proudly.
"That's exactly the kind of person I want you to remain."
Sarah smiled.
"I will, Dad."
She didn't mention Alex.
She didn't know why.
Perhaps because she still considered him only her strict CEO.
But somewhere deep inside, she was beginning to wonder why every small conversation with him stayed in her mind.
And across the city, Alex was thinking about her too.
Neither of them knew it yet...
But the distance between a CEO and his intern was slowly becoming something neither could easily explain.
