Episode 4: The First Night
He came back at 2am.
I knew it was him because the whole house smelled like whiskey and expensive cologne.
The door to his bedroom slammed.
I shot up in bed, heart racing. This was our first night sharing a room.
We had set a boundary. Two pillows between us on the king bed. Don’t talk. Don’t touch.
Tyson was drunk.
His tie was loose, shirt half unbuttoned. His eyes were red.
And he was angry.
“Get up,” he said.
I sat up, clutching the blanket. “Tyson, you’re drunk. Go sleep on the couch.”
He laughed, but it wasn’t funny. “The couch? In my own house? With my wife in my bed?”
He walked to the edge of the bed. Stopped.
“You and Lucas,” he said. His voice was low, rough. “You were laughing with him all day. Like that.”
“I wasn’t—”
“Shut up.” He cut me off. “Do you know why he’s drawn to you? Huh? You don’t look anything like Celine. You’re not her type. You’re not his type.”
The words cut.
Chubby. Poor. Not Celine.
I looked away. “Then leave me alone.”
Tyson knelt by the bed. Too close. I could smell the alcohol.
“You’re married,” he said. “You’re my wife. You should know your barriers, Freedom. Act like it.”
He paused. “I’m a man. I don’t need to be controlled by a woman. Or told who I can talk to.”
Something snapped in me.
“Then stop talking about Celine,” I whispered. My voice shook. “And stop talking about Lucas. If you don’t want anyone to touch me, then don’t let your friends bully me. Don’t kiss other women in my house. Don’t make me feel like nothing.”
Tears burned my eyes, but I refused to let them fall.
“If you don’t want to be intimate with me,” I said, looking him straight in the eye, “then stop. Stop touching me. Stop looking at me like that. Because I’m not a toy, you can pick up when you’re jealous.”
Deep down, I was tempted by his pink lips. The way he was staring straight into my eyes .It makes me forgive and forget his mistreatment.
The room went silent.
Tyson stared at me. Drunk, angry, and something else I couldn’t name.
“Will you regret this in the morning?” I asked quietly. “If we cross this line?”
He didn’t answer for a long time.
Then he nodded. Once.
And in that moment, the walls between us cracked.
I don’t remember much after that.
Just his hand finding mine.
Just the way he whispered my name like it was the first time.
Just the feeling of finally not being alone in that big, cold room.
When I woke up, the sun was up.
His side of the bed was empty.
And I was left wondering if last night was real.
Or if I would regret it.
