Curse

Curse

Episode one

I Am the Curse

I was never meant to be loved.

I was the kind of person people warned others about—the kind that arrived quietly, smiled beautifully, and left destruction behind without ever meaning to.

And then there was him.

He was something fragile.

Something I should have never touched.

Love had always been a foreign language to me. I knew how to survive it, how to run from it, how to turn something beautiful into something painful. But I had never learned how to hold it without breaking it.

Then he gave me his heart.

So willingly.

So innocently.

As if he didn’t know what my hands were capable of.

He looked at me as though I was something worth keeping, while I knew exactly what I was—a curse wearing the shape of someone he could love.

I wanted to tell him to run.

I wanted to tell him that I would hurt him eventually.

That my affection came with shadows. That my silence could become distance, my fear could become cruelty, and my love could become the very thing that destroyed him.

But he stayed.

And that frightened me more than anything.

Because the longer he stayed, the more I wanted to become someone worthy of him.

I wanted to touch his face without imagining the day I’d make him cry. I wanted to hold his hand without wondering when I’d let go. I wanted to love him without turning his heart into another graveyard for everything I couldn’t fix inside myself.

But curses don’t simply disappear because someone loves them.

So I kept fighting myself.

Every time he came closer, something inside me whispered, Don’t.

Every time he said he loved me, I wondered how long it would take before he regretted it.

He was fragile love in a world that had taught me nothing but destruction.

And I was terrified of touching him too deeply.

Because I knew what happened to beautiful things when they came too close to me.

They broke.

Maybe that’s why I loved him from a distance even when he was standing right beside me.

Maybe that’s why I pushed him away when all I wanted was to pull him closer.

Maybe that’s why I sometimes looked at him and thought,

You deserve someone better than me.

Someone who knows how to love without turning love into a battlefield.

Someone whose hands don’t tremble at the thought of being trusted.

Someone who isn’t afraid that every beautiful thing they touch will eventually become ruined.

But he chose me.

And somehow, that made the curse heavier.

Because now I wasn’t only afraid of hurting myself.

I was afraid of hurting him.

He was the one fragile thing I wanted to protect from me.

And perhaps that is the cruelest kind of curse—

to love someone deeply enough to know they deserve better, yet selfishly enough to wish they would stay.

I am the curse.

He is the fragile love I was never supposed to touch.

And every day he stays,

I pray my hands forget how to break what my heart cannot bear to lose…
