Till Death Do Us Part
TOLD FROM QING SHAN’S POV LIKE SHES TELLING A FRIEND HER STORY
Life ends just as suddenly as it starts, or so it appears. He didn’t stay for long; he didn’t hold me as much as he promised to and he didn’t become a pillar for me to lean on.
But I don’t blame God and I don’t blame myself, instead I blame those who took him from me; they were after our family company, so they killed my brother - the heir.
However it seems they had forgotten the rules of our Qing Company; only direct blood inherits... so it fell to me.
That’s right, me! I, Qing Shan, am the CEO of Qing Company and right now, my 23 year old self is drinking a glass of Chinese liquor, so I can prepare for my Shifu to continue with my WuShu class.
My lesson has ended now, so I must change into a suit, ready for the few conferences I must attend today.
I think I’ll go for a grey pencil skirt, a navy blouse and a grey blazer: perfect! Now I look the part, all that’s left is to get through the rest of the day without wanting to kill someone!
My first conference was with Mr Gu, and it went by like a breeze; he was very respectful and polite; the second was with Ms Xian- it was amazing how fast we came to an agreement concerning the land issues.
Currently I’m waiting for Mr Luo to turn up for our conference; I’ve never met him before but his reputation precedes him. It is said that he is a cold, heartless ice-block of a man but I know that most rumours are false, I mean would you look at the ones which surrounded my brother.
There was a knock at my office door then, announcing his presence, so I stood up, ensured I was presentable and opened my door to lead him to the meeting room.
The rumours definitely spoke of his personality but not of his appearance; he had to be the most gorgeous man I’ve ever laid eyes upon!
With his hair tousled and falling midway down his back, his Phoenix eyes like the depths of the sea, his jaw and cheekbones so pronounced and his full lips!
I had to drag myself out of my stupor and luckily no one seemed to notice. I caught his eyes and said; “Mr Luo, would you please follow me to the conference room and take a seat with the board of directors - the CEO will be there shortly. Excuse me.”
I don’t know what I was thinking of at the time, I was just too baffled, so I went to my private washroom, changed into a black pair of flares and a peach blouse to match with the headpiece my brother had gifted me.
Ready, I put on my business face and walked into the meeting room, with a smile on my face.
“Thank you all for attending; why don’t we get down to business?”, I asked whilst settling into my seat.
As we discussed the matters pertaining to the merging of the two companies, I kept on feeling his eyes on me, but I ignored it and then I completely forgot about it when the most absurd proposal was put forward.
“Well Miss Qing, we could always go with the traditional way of merging....marriage.” It was one of the directors, the one who was most loyal to my family but I still was in shock.
“No!” I exclaimed, “my choice in a partner will not be determined by this position or anyone else! After all, how do you know that I don’t already have a lover?” I asked, knowing full well that I don’t have a partner.
Suddenly a deep voice rang out - it was his: “Do you have a partner?” His voice felt cold and there seemed to be a hint of jealousy but I must’ve been imagining it, for what he said next was something I myself went cold at.
