The New Friend

Peter gets back home and finds his mom sitting at the dining room table, wringing her hands, "what happened today?" she asks, the familiar crease of worry forming in her face, "was it good or bad?".

"Hello to you, too," he says setting down his backpack and grabbing and Apple from the fruit bowl, "it was really bad, I bumped into a boy named biff by mistake and he was so angry and he wanted to fight me..." he says with pace, "I can see it was memorable" he Frowns, "did you even hear a word i said?". His mom stands up from her seat and slowly approaches him, "I did and I know it's hard but don't let anyone push you to the ground, am not saying you should pick a fight but try and stand tall in most situations" she says as she leaves the dining room. He just stood there surprised by the words of his mother. He walked up to his room and shut the door, he was about stripping off his clothes when he heard a knock on the door, "Peter, I forgot to tell you I got a present for you. Can I come in?" he rushes to the door and opens it, "you may". She giggles as she brings in a big gift, "wow this is for me?" he says with a smile on his face, "yeah I got it for your birthday, cause I won't be around next week to celebrate with you, am going on a business trip". He quickly rushes to open the rapped gift, he screamed, "Xbox!!! Mom how did you know I wanted this?" she smirks, "I saw it on your wanted list, am going out now don't wait up and don't play it too much, get outside and make friends" he groans, "I know mom-m,I'll try". She leaves the room and shuts the door behind her, "So cool, I got an Xbox!!! You are gonna be my new friend". He arranges the game console and immediately went out to a nearby game shop to buy games. On returning, he notices his step dad's arrival and rushes to greet him. He was shocked at the sight he saw, an average height blonde lady ravaging his step-dad's lips, "Dad?!!" she stops and turn around to face him, "who's this Robert ?" he looks forward, "just a foolish little bastard no need to freak out let's go upstairs shall we? " she smiles and continues ravaging his lip as he takes her up the stairs. Peter stood there shocked like a still rock, he couldn't move his limbs, tears rolled down his eyes and he fell to his knees crying and screaming. Not too long after he heard footsteps coming down from the staircase, it was his step-dad he reeked of alcohol and when he came down he rushed forward and grabbed Peter, "I don't wanna hear a single fucking noise from that asshole you call a mouth!!!" he was strangling him but managed to release his grip and staggered back up the stairs. It was the first time he had ever witnessed something as bizarre as this, he didn't know what to do he was afraid of crying not wanting his dad to come down and give him a beating so he stood outside on his own waiting.

He saw his mom coming and immediately rushed to hug her he didn't want to tell her what happened he tried avoiding it but then, his dad and the lady walking towards the house to where his car was parked. He thought his mom will bring hell loose but she just watched him pass and said nothing. He was really shocked he thought he was in a dream he kept looking at her as they entered the house not wanting to say anything yet, she looked at him and saw the fiery in his eyes, she smiled and robbed his head, "I knew about it just didn't want to stir up trouble or anything just filed for a divorce I know it's a lot to take in, right now am looking for an apartment where the two of us can stay and you can bring your Xbox too" she said. This was really hard for him he heard rumors at school of how parents divorce and there children end up in suicide or turn out murderers, he kept on imagining different scenarios in which he might turn out for the worse after the divorce. The news came as a shock to him he stood up and walked to his room, his mom kept calling but his mind was so far away that he nearly tripped on the stairs. He got to his room later on his bed full of tears he couldn't imagine how quick his life changes at that moment he wanted it all to be a dream "a bad dream of course I'll just sleep and wake up in the real world, ha-ha silly me" he wasn't really sure of what he said but it was really assuring to him so he cried himself to sleep.
