There was a week left before the summer break was going to end. Mani was lying on the sofa, bored, checking her social media. Her dad had returned home from the business trip. Suddenly Mani got a message from her best friend.

Mani’s best friend, Ananya, knew about Manu’s crush on Shen so she used to tease her from time to time.

“Mom, Dad! Ananya has asked me to go to movies with her and I have agreed.”

“Ok.”

“Ok. Have fun there and be sure to come back home before the sun goes down completely.”

“Ok Dad!”

Mani’s dad was leaving for his work wishing her well for the movies.

“I’m going honey!”

“Bye. Be safe.”

“Bye Dad! Make sure you come back early too.”

“Bye”

It was already 1 p.m. Mani started to get ready for the movies. She wore a white loose shirt with a blue jeans and white sneakers and to make everything look fancy, she wore topaz blue earings. She left the home and soon reached the theater.

Mani saw Ananya standing with her boyfriend. Shen wasn’t there.

“Hi! Sorry I made you both wait.”

“you’re right on time. We just bought the tickets.”

“Good to hear that.”

Ananya gave all the popcorn and drinks to her boyfriend, Jian and asked him to take the seat. She pulled Mani to a side and said,

“Shen is here!”

“Huh? How come I didn’t see him here?”

“He went out to buy something .”

“What- Why? When will he be back?”

“Whithin a minute or two.”

Ananya had asked Shen to give those flowers to Mani. She knew Mani’s feelings as well as Shen’s. She had asked Shen to give Mani flowers at the end of movie.

Everyone went inside the theatre room and the movie started but no sign of shen. It was a rom-com movie so tgere were many couples in tge theatre being all romantic with each other. Mani was sitting next to Ananya, who was being all lovey dovey with her boyfriend and she felt like she was third wheeling.

‘why am i here? She said Shen was gonna be here but here I am third wheeling. I’m so embarrassed right now.

Just as she was thinking that, something whispered her name.

^ is that you, Mani? ^

Mani being confused, turned her neck around and it was Lay sitting behind her.

^ Lay! ^

^ I thought it was you when the movie started.^

^what are you doing here? ^

*SHUUUUUUUSSSSHHHH*

Just when they were whispering to eachother, people got disturbed and shushed them. Lay signaled Mani to come outside. and Mani left with him.

“I hope I didn’t disturb you while watching the movie.”

“Nah! I was just getting bored. One of my friend was supposed to be here but he didn’t come. And I felt like I was third wheeling my Bestie.”

“Mine too. My friends called me here but they didn’t come so I decided to watch the movie they wanted to watch and it was not my type of movie.”

“So our friends ditched us and I just ditched my bestie with her boyfriend. Hahaha! feels good now.”

“hahaha! you’re right. If you don’t mind, I would like to treat you to lunch.”

“Sure. I would never mind if the other person is paying and I’m getting free food!”

“Pfft- You’re weird.”

“Thank You! I’ll take that as a compliment.”

“It wasn’t but whatever. Let’s go.”

Lay put one hand ahead as a gesture to ask her to go ahead and and showing her the way. Mani and Lay both left the CX theatre. Outside was Lay’s beautiful Tesla model S in elegant black.

“We’re going in THAT?”

“Yeah? Don’t you like it?”

“You’re right. I don’t like it. I Love it!!”

As Mani was about to enter the car, she felt someone’s stare piercing through her. She turned around to see but no one. She sat in the car excitedly. Lay drove away.

*CLINK*

Shen threw the bouquet of flowers in the bin as he saw Mani leave Lay.

‘Who does he think he is? That peice of shi— He thinks he can Mani away from.’
