The guard did as they were told. The cold chamber was a place worse than any jail. It's a place full of rotting mouse smells because the criminals who live there have been punished for eternity for living there without any food and water. Mostly they die in 2 to three month and their crops rot there causing nobody to care for them. if they want to survive they can by eating whatever they get to eat there and drink.
