I was wide awake at midnight, thinking over and over again about what Bianca had told me. I was trying to put myself to sleep. I tried to shut my eyes, and fall asleep but my mind couldn't comprehend the thoughts. Later then I heard a ping. it was a notification sound of my phone. I was too mentally tired to look at it. But then my phone kept ringing. I finally rolled over to the other side of the bed beside which was the nightstand on which my phone was resting. I scrolled on the phone , unlocking it and checking out the messages.

...A friend request from an unknown ID....

Stranger : Hey!

Scarlett: Excuse me. May I know who this is?

Stranger: Oh. Sorry. I thought he had given you my number.

Scarlett: Who?

Stranger: Nevermind. I'm Damien

A sweat broke on her face. She turned pale, just upon hearing the monstrous name.

Stranger: You still there?

THE NEXT DAY.

Brent was sitting in our place today. I was at first a little uncomfortable especially after listening to the backstory of his terrible past. Could I possibly be able to even talk to him?

Brent: Hi!

He greeted me but I couldn't muster up the courage to greet him back. So I had to ignore him unwillingly. During the math class, the teacher was going way too fast and I missed some problems.

Brent: Here let me help you with that!

Scarlett: Vivian can I copy off your notes please?

Brent: (Oh)

Vivian : Why not?

AT RECESS TIME.

I was sitting there beside Brent waiting for my lessons. But I had already upset Brent so much since morning that I couldn't possibly ask him to help with the geography lessons. When I was thinking what to do , a sudden appearance of someone made me sweat and whine. Cody Blanc was standing there in front of me. And I was frightened to the bottom of my foot, my eyes full of fear. I held onto Brent's arm gripping it tight, and brent was shocked. But I held onto it, trembling with fear. Realizing my fear, Brent spoke up.

Brent: Get out!

Cody: And why is that Loser. Mind I'm talking to Scar.

Brent: She is not willing to.

Cody: Not until she tells me to go.

Scarlett: P...lease...

Cody stood there like a rock. Perhaps he wasnt expecting the reaction but he left as if respecting my wish

Brent: Scar, Are you trembling.

Scarlett: A..m I?

Brent: Hey, Breathe. Why are you shaking with fear? Is something wrong. Tell me scar.

Scarlett: I...I... kknow.

Brent: You know what?

Scarlett: B...b..belle.

Brent was torn apart. He was stiff like a rock. For the first time in forever he had shown an emotion, his eyes were teary and his body was stiffened. I loosened the grip from his arm and tried to calm him. He wasnt responding to me. He was taken aback and wasnt in a state to be talked to, perhaps I had touched that part of his heart that was never awaiting to be discovered. Perhaps I had made a mistake.

Scarlett: Brent!!!! Brent!!!! Calm down.

Brent(crying): Scar, I loved her. Belle was my sister, she was evergthing to me, she had always supported me and loved me , she was the only one I could open up my heart to and that monster and his brother did that to her. And I couldn't do anything. After she was gone I shut myself out. Scar..

He placed his head on my shoulder, weeping. I couldn't help him. I felt so helpless. I texted Bianca. She came in dashing into the class and collecting Brent from me.

Bianca:(mouthing) : Take care.

Scarlett: I'm sorry Bianca!

She gave me a weak smile and left with him. I was sitting there all alone in the classroom having had the shock of my life. Was Brently really the hard, emotionless boy I had known or was he just hidden out?
